[WIP] Corellia: Coronet City

Hello Gametoast. Food_Eater here. I'm proud to announce my second map and the first
map I've developed in over two and a half years, Corellia: Coronet City.

Background:
Coronet City is a sprawling spaceport metropolis and capital of Corellia, a planet home to
smugglers, pirates, and many heroes and villains from the Galactic Civil War. The city is
home to Han Solo of Star Wars fame (haha), and is a very important location in Star Wars
canon throughout all eras.
During the development of this map I have ignored much of expanded universe information
regarding the location, aside from the bare basics. This means that avid EU fans will be
disappointed when they find a lack of locations like the "Blue Sector" or CorSec officers
patrolling the streets. Galaxies players will be especially disappointed because I've kicked
the SWG interpretation of the city out the window. This is my own interpretation of the city and proudly so.

Description:
The map features a network of walkways and platforms strung between skyscrapers and
surrounded by various spacecraft. The map is greatly inspired by Rend's Coruscant maps
and uses a lot of reskined models from those two maps. One way to describe the map is
that it has the altitude of Coruscant City and the nightlife of Coruscant Streets. I guess the images do the map more justice than whatever description I can offer...

Features:
•A number of animated objects. Ships hover, airbusses fly above the skyline, and most
importantly - the Corellian Corvette under much of the map's walkways takes off into the
skies and lands, and sits idle over the course of a 3-minute loop.
•Lots of new heroes, including Wedge Antilles, General Veers, Ben Kenobi, Dash Rendar,
Baron Fel, and more!
•CW-era stuff, I swear.

Progress:

Physical Map -- +95%
AI Planning, Barriers, etc. -- +85%
Custom Locals -- 93%
Custom Heroes -- 30%
Overall -- ~89%

Current File Size: 150 MB ('Trying to lower this.)

I've been working on this map for about four weeks now. It should be done relatively soon,
but I've been slowly losing interest in the project and I've been having issues with getting the
custom locals to not crash the map. Hopefully with the start of this topic and insight from the community, I'll get myself to finish this.

That is fantastic work, sir!

Just the other day I was thinking about making a fitting weapon set for the Prince Xizor model, like a melee-fist combo with a secondary weapon Hand blaster. This might be the very map I could make such a hero for, that is if you'd want that.

-edit, maybe not. I thought this was a coruscant map, but I looked and it was corellia. XD

Very nice map! Right up there with Coruscant: City and Coruscant: Streets for urban street-type maps.

Your previous corellia map was pretty good, but this looks even better.

Impressive screenshots, I'm definitely looking forward to playing it.

Looks awesome, but... There seems to be a little much going on, definitely more than there were in Coruscant Streets if I remember correctly.

Don't worry, this will be my last Corellia map, though I do want to re-release 'Shores with significant improvements eventually. I really need to bring it up to better standards. I made a second map on this planet because I like the standard that SWBF1 set, that of having two maps per planet. This is what I want to be the Corellia map, though. Shores was made because of my lack of experience. Coronet City pretty much the only place on Corellia that really matters in Star Wars canon, and this will certainly be the better of my two maps.

I'm still adjusting the AI count. I want there to be a lot of units, but not so many that it makes the unit count unadjustable. If I remember correctly, Coruscant Streets had so many AI that it "broke" the ability for one to adjust the amount of AI and reinforcements. I want people to be able to play with no units, or a large amount. There will be a number of locals running around anyway, so even if the regular AI amount isn't satisfying, the map will be still crowded.

Lol when I first saw this I thought it would be Coronet from the GCW. Prominently featured in SWG where everything was grounded.....

edit: i've been told your not a new mapper, its nice to have a returned experienced mapper all the same.

That is one hack of a good looking map. My only complaint is that it reminds me more of Nar Shaddaa than Coronet, but that's just my opinion. But then again, it does bear resemblence to how it looked in the Rogue Squadron comics. Great job. :thumbs:

This map could use some improvement, but it has a lot of potential. Try not to overdo the colors.

That is one neat looking map! Very impressive. I like how the Blockade Runner is docked in the first screenshot. And that's a creative way to make the Dash Rendar from a Stormtrooper Han Solo. Well done! :thumbs:
