Ok i have some question to make me a better skinner.
1. How Do you change the color perfectly? Like on Syth's Bossk skin's suit?
2. How do you make the good quality human faces?
Thanks

1. is easy, use hue/saturation, select the color you want to change on that pop-up screen and change the hue. (if you keep it at master, all colors'll look weird.)
2. Well.... I always take the smallest part of the face possible, (eyes nose and mouth), use the saturation tool (and hue if needed) to get it the same color as the original face, then I make sure it's the same size as the original, so the eyes, nose and mouth are placed on the exact same place as on the original, and then I blend the skin in a bit. Using the airbrushthingy if needed.
Or sometimes I just desaturize it all, put the face on, use lighten to make it as light as the rest and than add the color again with color balance.
there's various methods I fuess, but thats how I usually do it.

Re: The finer workings of Gimp
For my Episode 4 Obi-Wan skin, I found a picture of the face online, then copied it over the current face as a new layer. I scaled that layer so the position and size of the facial features were the same. Next, I selected the face, opened up the HSV tool and tweaked the skin colour so it matched. Then I merged the layers and smudged the edges to make it seamless.

Re: The finer workings of Gimp
I always use online pictures as reference, and even copy them to my computer, open them with GIMP and get the colors i want from it. For realistic faces, i always find a good photograph, crop the face out nicely and paste it on the skin, and stretch/crop/warp it to the right proportions of the skin, which is very tricky.EGG_GUTS wrote:Ok i have some question to make me a better skinner.

A lot of the time, with faces, especially if there are very few defining features (i.e. no extra scars, facial hair, etc.) it's easiest and best to just cut out the ears, eyes, nose, mouth etc. and paste those over the original skin's counterparts. Then you can continue to tweak the skin from there so that it looks more like the person (by adjusting location of these after seeing what the skin looks like).

Thanks I'll keep those tips in mind. But what if I wanted a face from a guy but the guy was a cartoon picture, I want a clenched teeth mouth. Any tips on how to make an open mouth from scratch?
