Battlefront 2: Evolved (formally the Visual Sides Patch)

What's that? THEWULFMAN was insane enough to start another mod? Yes he was.

However, I started this a couple weeks ago, and am 70% done already, so I'll be releasing it soon.

-What is it?
This mod replaces most of the stock side lvls(at least all 4 normal sides and their shells). It's a visual patch much like the 1.2 or 1.3 patch sides, matter of fact I started the mod to be included as the 1.4 sides. I did not know however that Zerted didn't want to include any sides with his patch, and I agree with him. I decided not to let the work go to waste, so I am going to release it as a standalone.

This mod sets out to fix some canon errors, and basically make everything look good.
I still have things to do, fix shadows on weapons, make new effects, fix a couple weapon bump errors, fix the specular on a couple things, etc. All weapon models get specular and bump maps. All droids have accurate chunks, down to the right paint for each B1 droid. A lot of weapon models have been replaced, and there are a lot of different models for the AWARD weapons as well.

This is a joint project between me, and AQT.

And of course, this topic would be nothing without screenshots. More to come.

Credit goes to AQT, Kinetos Impetus, Repsharpshooter, Icemember, and everyone else that I used assets from. I'll have a full and proper credit list on release. I intend to release it in a couple weeks or so (EDIT: oh boy, how about 2 years). I'd like to thank AQT again for teaching me all the ins and outs of specular, all those clone models have specular thanks to his guidance. :wink:

Ahhh, it's about time to not have to stare at those...other models (no offense to anyone). Great job so far!

i wouldnt say that. while pizzathehuts mod replaces stock models with "random" assets mady by other modders this mod is supposed to improve the overal look of the sides and contains a lot of work that the creator(s) made him/theirselves, just like the inofficial 1.2 patch.

looks good. one question, will the jettrooper's EMP launcher actually launch EMP's? a simple change to the emperor's smash .fx and arccasters exp sound would work if you haven't yet.

Not even close. This is designed to be a visual update. Pizzethehutt's mod changes the whole look of the entire side structure. The only real similarity is the Sullustian Smuggler. I changed the model because I wanted it to look more like a "smuggler".

No. I wouldn't force people to have to use my camera from my larger mods.

Yes I did intend to change that. I had thought of that this morning. :P

In the installer could you include if we wanted your camera angle, and if we didnt than we could uncheck the box?

I concur :yes: . I only used assets made by others.
But, what do you mean with "random"?

No .Their mod looks way better , mine was just a first side mod :( .

i mean that its decided through polls what content is included.

as some people might have nticed im now also contributing to the mod.
i planned to make a visual update for the common models and some effects with the item models etc. that i already made for prosecutor. since wulfman now started this visual update mod for the sides i decided to contribute the common update to it rather than making another separate visual update mod.

The pale Stormtrooper was a result of the 1.3 patch's Stormtrooper model missing its environment texture. This mod replaces the stock sides, so any custom map/mod loading the stock sides will see this new Stormtrooper model, which uses a specular map instead of an environment map.

You guys should team up with Zerted and add this to his 1.4 patch. That is, if he is willing. Nice work! :thumbs:
