The first and last incarnations are an interesting irony.
LucasArts cancels the Free Radical version, effectively shutting down the studio.
Disney shuts down LucasArts, effectively cancelling Battlefront III.

I feel a little powerless, all we want as consumers and as fans is to have a battlefront type game that is good. Im already 21, will I really need to wait another 8 years for a chance to play it?
I don't know about you gentlemen but I think im going to write a letter. Who knows, if they get enough maybe they will get more of a hint.
Though I don't know what else we can do.

I'm already thinking about this as well. Man, how many years have passed since I played BFI with pals after school. And then BFII came out. I must've been in 8th grade, now I'm second year in Uni. Maybe around the time I have kids, it'll come out?
