Geonosis Arena- By Wazmol [0.5 BETA OUT!]

Firstly i have been doing tonnes of maps at the moment and i finally thought about posting a WIP for one, and i happened to choose Geonosis Arena.

GEONOSIS ARENA

As the title suggests this map is the arena on Geonosis, it has the base geonosis arena interior that Teancum posted but heavily modded, it has a new upper part to the arena, make the stand huge, with loads of rows. I have added the stage part where dooku ect stood in attack of the clones. This map is in someways a lot like Schizos (was it him) map from ages ago but with a few improvements, i have modeled a bigger arena, i have made a few new props, including a dead ackley with "obi-wan" wounds on it from when he killed it.

Anyway, there is one CP in the middle of the map surrounded by CIS cps in the stadium.

To be honest i think the planning is amazing, i made it so that the cis only move towards the middle and surround the jedi/republic, it really seems like the film, the republic dont really move anywhere else, its actually quite great.

Game mode differences:

Conquest:

CIS surrounding CPs
Rep Middle CP
Jedi as Locals

Hero Assault:

CIS Surrounding CPs
Jedi Middle CP
Geonosians as Locals

Ideas i am thinking of including:

Rep gunships flying low in conquest (Ai Controlled)
Adding R2 and 3PO
For Conquest, dead jango body and helmet
I would really love to have geonosians flying around frantically in the background, like a sky dome

Units:

Default Republic and cis at the moment (will change to my sides)
Republic unlockable units and Heroes (Ani, Obi, Mace, Kit, Shaak, Agen, and MandeReks Heroes (forgot names lol))
CIS have B1s B2s and Droidekas (but interesting changes, not just plain boring)

Things To Do:

Add my sides to both teams
Touch up on props
Add lowrez geometry to the pillars in the middle of map
Add geonosis turrets
Make XL Mode
Maybe make Hunt mode

Progress Report:

Amazingly enough, as the geonosis models were released just 2 days ago, i have finished the map lay out and i am pretty much 80% done on this.

That being said, there may be a beta out in a few days, i already know that MandeRek and FOOLIS have tested already and they said they liked it, so thats a plus!

I would love for my fellow GTers to post comments and ideas for me to deal with.

Not to burst your bubble, but you know Schizo already did Geonosis Arena with the exact same models, right? And his really rocked.

Tean' your right, i think that map ruled all at the time.

I thought i might aswell give my own one a go.

Who knows, people might actually like mine aswell, it is actually different in a lot of ways, its just the basic arena model that I kept, but i edited it and added on extra parts to it and now it looks very different, you will see with pics soon.

@ Xavious, thanks for backing me lol j/k. Teancum did have a really good point but mine is different.

This looks cool, but one republic cp and four cis surrounding it will end the game pretty fast, dont ya think? I reccoment adding locals in the actualy arena seats (geonosians, jedi) and add some cps in the rows, for sniper chaos. Sounds cool though!

I'd just say take snipers out entirely, or have some jedi as locals in the stands, like the movie.

No, taking away snipers would massively degrade the maps "coolness". I think you just have to make the sniper rifles less powerful, and the clones have to be the only playable rep units. The jedi should be locals, and you should be backing them up, not getting massive kills by playing as them. But its your map, and you decide.

Hey man that sounds pretty cool, i do have other game modes so maybe i could do that on them. Great idea, also i am thinking about having some fighting in the stand. Will be hard to do though.

Oh @ tean: Thats okay man, what you said was right in a way, schizos was good. Dont forget you have the right to jump to conclusions, you are the proud owner of the conv pack, the true ruler of swbf2 mods.

Looks neat. Good enough maybe to add to my collection! ^_^ By the way, I thought WIPs couldnt be exact until they had everything...meaning screens.

This sounds like it's going to be a pretty good map Waz, it also sounds like you've spent quite a bit of time modifying stuff to make it cooler which is always a plus.
There's nothing wrong with remaking a map that someone else already made, Schizo's map was good for what he had to work with at the time it was made and it remains in my addon folder to this day, but there have been alot of cool things incorporated into this game since then which could potentially make gameplay more interesting.

I look forward to the release of this map.

How did you play it :)

This map sounds really good! Schizos map was great but I didn't think it really had enough in it. Some things you should add though are ALL EP2 units, have red terrain, a mode where it is Mace Windu vs Jango Fett, and if possible make it so you can go up on the sides of the Arena :P

Yeah, sorry I didn't catch that half of because I skiped through some of it and the rest I read fast :P

@ Ace': yeah its still in mine, lol. Very true, especially now i can model quite fluently i will be able to make models and textures in no time now for this map, i am going to make "inside" to the arena now aswell, with maybe stairs leading up to the stands them selves.

There could be a problem however, as me and an un-named person are thinking about extending this map beyound the boundaries, there could be and object limit problem. We will see.
