I'm not too sure about this one. I think it's going to fall into the "Titanic" disorder where it was going through the motions until the climactic, action filled ending. Eh, if I get the money and the reviews are good I'll see it. Otherwise, I'll just rent District 9 if the reviews are unanimous.

Unfortunately D9 isn't available until 12/22 though, so you'll have to wait a bit.

Unfortunately for Avatar, D9's story will probably beat the crap out of Avatar.

I wouldn't doubt it, Avatar's plot is nothing new.

That's my point.

so i read a review, and it seems the only upside to this movie will be the VFX. the length and script are blech, and a bunch of the movie is compared to being Planet Earth for Pandora, and the awesomely awesome battle is the last 40 minutes.

Saw the commercial...
Saw the army dudes getting breifed, I thought to myself, "I'll see it."
Saw the blue aliens, I thought to myself, "Eh, maybe I'll see it."
Saw there were mech suits, I thought to myself, "BYE BYE AVATAR. *click*"

(Alternatively, for those of you who haven't seen either of the first two: ET + Pocahontas = Avatar)
I was just about to say that! It's a pretty clear storyline, even from the trailer. Guy (john smith) becomes an alien (native American) and meets a female alien (Pocahontas). This makes him rebel against the man.

Well I saw the movie today and it didn't disappoint. Kind of a recycled story but it was done in an extremely creative manner. The visuals were breathtaking (saw it in 3D) and the action was fantastic. I'm seeing it again tomorrow but in 2D. The 3D version was cool but a little overwhelming, especially for a three hour feature.

when i first saw the trailer i thought i'd never watch it, but after reading a "good" review of it i saw it yesterday....
it didnt disappoint and id love to see it in 3d - it really seems to be made for that
the only downside is the hardly-original common hollywood plot
the best is the simply amazing jungleenvironment with all the strange (and extremely colorfull) plants and animals

If you ever get the chance you should see it in 3D because the jungle scenes are
incredible. You actually feel like you're in the jungle exploring it with them.

The best movie I've seen in a Looong time. Best of the year I would even say.
Transformers and G.I. joe can't hold a candle to the imaginative and carefully woven storytelling. After all, action is pointless and dull unless you care about the characters. Sure it's basically cowboys V.S. Indians, but it's never been seen quite like this.
It is the kind of movie that makes me realize just how many movies that I've watched recently are vapid and bland.

Saw this tonight. Quite good. Great CGi, great plot, believable characters, just a really good movie imo.
