Interesting to see Max von Sydow and Andy Serkis amongst them. Given his previous roles, I wonder if Andy Serkis will be doing a role involving motion capture?

For the lazy, an imdb summary (in terms of what I think people will know them best from):
Max von Sydow = this gen's Alec Guinness (old guy with a lot of previous roles). I know him best as the voice of Vigo in Ghostbusters 2, but he seriously has tons. Movie junkies may know him better.
Andy Serkis = Gollum from LotR (biggest name, IMO)
Domhnall Gleeson = Bill Weasley from Harry Potter 7
Oscar Isaac = Prince John from Russell Crowe's 2010 Robin Hood movie (don't know how many of you saw it, probably the smallest "big actor" of the group)
The rest of them have only a handful of roles as extras or side characters in small films.

I don't know, were any of the original cast that huge when they started out (besides Alec Guinness)? I'm just glad they didn't pick anybody who was glaringly bad. Here's hoping things work out.

No, they weren't. And that's why they chose who they chose this time around. They're trying to recreate Episode IV.
