Is this ok to do or not (involves SWBF1+2 for ps2 and xbox)

I was wondering how right or wrong this is: taking the PS2 and Xbox versions of SWBF2, playing them on a pc using an emulator, while using DXRipper to extract pS2 and xbox versions of models from frames it captures.
I'm wondering this from when i was playing SWBF2 on my friend's ps2 and noticed that the pistol model for the imperials was much different then the model for the pc version (the ps2 version looked accurate. the pc version, well, i think looks like a large pen with a pistol grip and a small scope.
I would be conducting this on my friend's computer with him since he owns the ps2 version of Bf2, and a better computer
(the process might be something like: play on emulator, capture models, transfer to my laptop, import to blender, export as vrml, import vrml to mshviewer, save as a msh file)
I need your guys'opinion. would it be ok to use the model in a mod and/or release them, or not? (i mean, its the same game as what we all play, but different consoles)
