The Heads Up Display. The screen that you see which has the weapon icons and health/ammo bars on it.

I prefer the stock HUD, but when i play big mods like Dark Times with the stock HUD, the icon placement isn't great but it is fixed when i enable the V 1.3 HUD.

@DarthD.U.C.K. (ingame.red) I've been rebuilding all the scripts. Redoing the icons, HUD, and localizations are the very last things on my list. Hopefully, I'll be able to extract all the HUD assents out of ingame.lvl and put them into a new lvl. That way, modders will be able to easily switch HUD mods. Are there any other things that should be extracted from the main lvls and put into new ones?
@yuke5 (bundling in v1.2) Probably not. You'll be able to download v1.2, then install v1.4 without messing up v1.2. I messed up integrating v1.2 with v1.3 and don't want to screw up again with v1.2 and v1.4.
@Maveritchell (changing era names) I'll probably do that if someone gives me a list of eras to change and what their new name is supposed to be. The new addme format (old one will be supported too) will make it easier to create your own era or game mode or use an existing one.
@Marth8880 and @jdee/barc (sides + HUD) I'm not an artist. I won't be redoing any graphics or models, but I'll try to make it easier for others to make graphical mods. There's the strangest bug on server mods that make changes to weapon effects... I'd love to see people doing those types of mods. It's a real mind bender when you're not expecting it.
I've been working on converting the map selection screens to lists. How I'm doing it is the map list shows the list of maps and how many missions that map has. When you select a map, it's missions show up in the top right. You'll be able to click a button to sort the missions by era, game mode, or map name. There's another button you can click that changes the Map list. You'll be able to cycle through displaying maps, eras, or game modes. When you click on a game mode/era displayed in the map list, all of the missions that use that game mode/era will show up in the mission list. I may or may not be able to fix the AAA%_% name bug some people get.
Code: Select all

Also, I got accepted to graduate school (part-time) today. It starts on Monday. We'll see how that eats up my time.
Edit: Doing a Masters in Computer Science with a focus on Intelligent Systems (AI and computer vision). I have a BS in Software Engineering. Both degrees will be from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). I've been unemployed for the past 8 months due to having a sleeping disorder (
DSPS) (it's illegal to not hire someone because of that, but everyone still does it anyway) and am going back to school to become employable again and to learn cool stuff about AI. When I finish up with SWBF2, I might move over to that Star Wars spring-engine RTS and help them out. I can do grad school and work on v1.4, but I also have to find a job or will end up dropping out due to lack of funds. I don't know if I'll have time for all three activities.

Sounds/looks great! And fantastic job on getting accepted into graduate school! Pardon me for asking as it's probably been announced several times before, but what are you planning on getting your MD in? I am going to guess something involving coding and Probably. game development...
Agh, that must suck being unemployed. :S But that is a SUPER cool degree! I wish math didn't hate my guts otherwise I would love to do something like that.

i cant think of anything else. for people wo want to make custom huds it would be very usefull to have the hudfile/extraweapons.hud from the 1.2 patch that was included in the 1.3 patch so that they dont have to redo the coordinates for the weaponmodels.

Lookin great Zerted

. I am really fond of the WULFMANS and DarthSpiderPigs third person camera angle, and was wondering if you can include this into the patch. (In the installer you can ask if you want the angle or not, check the box)?

I'm not sure if I know what you're talking about. Can you post a link to that mod/map?

awesomee, this mod is already gonna be a hit, i can see it now. I know it is tough to do some modding but i have a few suggestions.
1. Add a third team (ex. tusken vs empire vs rebellion and you can choose the tusken and the other two as a side)
1.5 make the third team have a reinforcement counter too (and when they are at zero, they no longer spawn)
2. try to reduce the lag a bit plz (if possible)

If, however doubtful, Zerted wanted to include the camera angles he would need but ask me and I'd be more than willing to give them to him.
@brant777
I'm afraid what you ask is very hard to do (and have it work properly) and really not worth Zerted's limited time. He has added more teams before, however it didn't quite work perfectly and there was no extra reinforcement counts for the Third and Forth team.
Improving lag, now that, while possible, isn't exactly Zerted's thing (though not out of his range of ability). He is a Lua coder primarily, and the only real way to improve lag is to change fx, textures, models, and LOD view distances. One lag reducing mod exists, I forget who made it off the top of my head. It lowered the resolution of map textures. All in all, not really worth his time. If there was enough of a demand for one, I suppose I could make a lag-reducing mod myself. It's not exactly hard. It wouldn't even take very long.

Please don't bump old topics.
2013-01-31 Update By [RDH]Zerted: I'm fully busy with life and school (mostly school). While I still keep the mod tools installed just in case, I don't see myself ever finishing v1.4. A multimillion winning lotto ticket could change my mind. If you find one let me know. Thanks for all the fun and experience.
Also if anyone gets a Lua decomplier working with SWBF2 let me know about that too. Such tool would greatly reduce v1.4's development time by letting me recover my lost v1.3 source code.
