Hidden/Spoiler:

That is not exactly true. While there is only one source for adding the dark times, several resources exist for campaign creation. Further more, there is a helpful program that creates campaigns for you (only simple ones though).

so. any new ideas?
You grossly underestimate the difficulty of scripting something entirely for yourself, and you're likewise letting yourself be intimidated by a large text post. Adding a campaign mode will take work and lots of learning on your part, even if you use some kind of tool to aid you (which I wouldn't recommend, because you'll learn less that way). Adding Dark Times is written out for you step-by-step in a very comprehensive tutorial - if you can't make it through those directions you will have a very tough time trying to sift through the bits and pieces of scripting advice scattered around the modding forum.
In other words, adding dark times is easier than adding a campaign. And I wouldn't suggest trying to add a campaign either.

Mav, that does make sense. I guess that is true, but like I said, I can't do anything about it for a while. As for adding campaign, tips instead of discouragement (that's you darth squoobus)would be nice! Thanks guys

p.s. does anyone have any assests or models or textures they can send me or link me to for use. I can only get so much. If anybody makes anything, a nice ground junk texture would be nice.

what kind of tips do you want?
something like: you should rather concentrate on the map and gameplay iself before starting to learn how to script a campaign because that is timeconsuming and you wont be able to make an interesting campaign within some hours, even with the missionscriper (which does writingwork for you but doesnt save you from having to understand how the scripting works)

I tried what you want to do before, and it's not pretty. Campaign maps require considerable skill, and you should focus more on making a map fun than trying to cram features in.

And on the subject of ground textures, if you want to do metal textures the terrain should be sharp and angular. If you want to do round, hilly terrain, use geonosis and tatooine textures, because on a junk planet most of the ground would be covered in depleted soil.

i would suggest Fierfeks latest tutorial on mapping to teach you how to create water. it is very descriptive and helpful!

Actually I am very aware of the need to improve the actual gameplay and I made it quite fun. The teams are balanced and the a.i. go to their spots. I need to fix the bunkers a bit and reskin stuff but I am not looking for advice in that department. And in regards to the last post, I did use Fierfek's tutorial. Great stuff.

And yes this is a scary mission adding a campaign but I am determined. And what better place to learn than gametoast. I want to make a good map that is fun, creative, and well polished and set apart from other noob maps. This is a large project, but I am really bored. I like doing tedious stuff, so stop scaring me please (just kidding, but seriously, I have a good idea on the difficulty of making a campaign)

And I like that idea of the ground textures bieng different according to material. I'll make sure I'll add that.

Keep the ideas coming guys!

or maybe he just gained access to making maps? (such as finding a fix for something wrong in his modtools)

or maybe I just decided I wanted to try it out. I get a little stubborn when I want to learn something. So, anything helpful people want to tell me (assets, tools, textures, ideas, tips)
:D

I have taken a peek and the skins are interesting, but I don't think they would play to well into my theme. Maybe I will place commander cody's unit (sans jetpack). Question: should there be speeder bikes or just urban. I don't like vehicles, but this map isn't JUST for me. It is supposed to be fun. The map is large enough to support the slow speeder bikes of battlefront 2 (So painfully slow compared to the real speed of the speeder bikes

and before anybody says I'm in over my head, yes you are correct. However, I am aware of the time it will take. Better to take the time and make a good one rather than a bad one and take a day.

you do realize that you could amp up the speed of the speeder bikes dont you? anyway, it looks like it would be good for some amped up speeders.

What is the world come to if modders aren't enjoying their own creations? Maps should be just for you, and you can release them and other people can like them or hate them. Most modders have their own style that they prefer, whether its having "realistic" weapons or tons of AI or making really small, compact maps. If in your case it's a lack of vehicles, hey, that's fine. That's the way it should be.

tru tru, its not really about what other people think now is it? it looks like its gonna be a good map either way.

I want to know what my troopers should look like for new skins (I hate default)

you should put lots of dirt and slime on them to look as if they actually have benn rummaging around in trash. (hmmm i wonder if you could get someone to make a cloth that attaches to one of your clones foot that looks like toilet paper, how great would that be)

That is probably one of the greatest ideas ever!!! I think you should do that. Some cool snipers with the skirt-things would be great.
