Sorry boys, but I had to totally reset the Questing world. Not even the backups would work for some reason. I know you guys had some things going in there, but hopefully the WorldEdit plugin that got us into this mess will help cleanup and rebuild a little faster. Just be careful next time. I'll try to set the backups up a little better this time so we have something stable to fall back on, but no more mushrooms :P

MUSHROOMS, Y U CRASH SERVER?
Yeah, really sorry about that, guys. I mean, I guess it's good that we had almost no progress on anything but I still had spent a ton of time on my arena and null on his towers, sooo... Whoops.

What time is the server usually turned on in the mornings?

When I wake up... Lol.
I know that isn't very server admin-y of me, and I apologize (sort of. I'm not going as far as to set an alarm to put the server up, I'm on summer vacation :p). It's unfortunate that there's no way to automatically start the server like there is to automatically stop it. And I still don't have the funds to rent a dedicated server.

I'm correct in assuming your on Windows right? You need to find "Scheduled Tasks" or the like (in Vista/7 it may be different) and then you find options for the starting the .exe. Of course, if user input is required to actually load the maps then that won't work...

I hope that helps. :cpu:

This also assumes the computer is ON before I get up...
(Hint: it's not)

Schedule Your System to Start Automatically :google:

Only real problem is that you would have to make sure the computer hibernates instead of shutting down. There is probably not a good way to start it by itself unless the BIOS has a startup option.

Guys, we're lucky to have this server. It doesn't have to be on all the time. However it's convenient for Twi, that should be fine by us.

He just made a statement that was not technically correct, and I felt obliged to let him know that options were avaliable.

Edit: Edit for clarity as my statement was misinterpreted.

Ohhhhh that was kinda low.

1) It is not my machine, it is my family's.
2) Every night at 11:30, Dad shuts the computer down fully, I'm not about to ask him to put it in sleep mode, instead, because he has this thing about saving energy when we can.
3) The computer is not touched in the mornings until I wake up because everyone else is getting ready for work or school.
4) I already knew about the "Start Your Computer Automatically (from hibernation mode)" solution, but like I said, you're assuming the computer is still on in the mornings before I wake up. Which it is not.

Believe me, bud, I thought about finding a way to make the server start automatically since week 1. I've done my research, it's just not in the cards. Don't tell me I made an incorrect statement. There is no way FOR ME to automatically start the server each and every morning like there is for me to automatically stop it each and every night.

Thank you, good sir.

I apologize. I thought you were interested. I saw no mention of you having already researched the topic. And anyhow none of that was aimed at you or your equipment or family. I understand having to share a computer as I had to for years (and now my mom just went and pass worded the other computer for no reason, so I can't do too much now). I'm sorry, but I don't attempt personal attacks as there are meaningless and cause bad feelings for everyone involved.

Depending on how much RAM we want to allocate and what type of dedicates server (shared environment, truly dedicated machine, or virtual machine), between $20 and $60 a month. Currently, I allocate 1.5GB of RAM to our server from my personal machine, and I'm not sure if that's more than enough or just enough, I haven't really tried just giving it 1GB.

Well thats 3 times as much as my computer, but it might not be enough, considering the lag lately.
I'm pretty sure its not my end, but maybe it is.
Too bad I don't have several hundred bucks to spare.

I haven't been on the server for the past couple days but I was told that my Hospital was "broken into".
Is this true? As in griefing?

Nope. Creeper accident. Darn thing fell from the top of the gametoastia sign. They did their best to fix the surrounding area, but lacked the clean stone to repair the walls.
