Problems on the "Home" Front

I made my house for the DMI project, and I have had several issues with it. (if it helps in imagining this, its a rectangular building with a dome on top):
1. Transparency. I followed mav's guide for this, and ended up with a bizarre result. I tried making the dome transparent, but failed. The weird part is, it looked like it worked in zero editor; i could see through it. The weirder part is the walls
turned transparent instead. When i added an alpha channel, I applied it only to the part the dome is colored with using the rectangle tool in GIMP.
2. Doorway. I cut a door in the front side of my house with the Boolean difference tool, but I can't walk through it. I cut a window a few stories above, and I can enter/exit through it, but the doorway won't let me enter.
Anyone possibly know why any of these problems are happening?

My guess is that you messed something up with the boolean difference.

I'm assuming the hole for the door still appears, and that you're letting the munge create the collision for you. If both of these are true, then you need to add a .option file to the msh that contains -donotmergecollision inside it.

Alright, I'll give that a shot next chance I have and hope for the best. My only question about that is why the door won't work, but the window will. Oh well. Gonna go try the .option thing now
edit: sadly, nothing was changed. Here's what i did though, if it helps:
1. copied a .msh option file
2. renamed it "silashouse.msh" to match my model
3. Munged Everything
4. Played game
5. Became sad

you did make sure that it had -donotmergecollision in it right not just any .option works

silashouse.msh (option file)
yep, I think I got it right.
I noticed another strange issue. After finding a glitch that allowed me inside, I noticed that I could go up my ramp-stairs, but not back down. Similarly, I can go out my door but not in. This is one weird building...

Huh. It may be because you messed something up with the actual model itself in XSI.

Try cleaning to make sure the .option got munged.

cleaning worked

. for the door anyway.
One of the walls is still somewhat transparent, and the dome still is not. But I can get in easier now, so thanks. I'm thinking about making the dome a seperate object. Shouldn't be able to fail there i think....
