But -to some point- Mini is right. The side of Blue-tooth looks somewhat washed out, as if a single texture was stretched across the whole side. Yet on the other hand, I'm sure you'd have fixed this when you could...
Other: The hangar walls don't fit the color of the floor, the cockpit of the L-Wing has two strange pointy horns, and the horizontal wings should be somewhat closer to the front side, right under the cockpit.
HK could need some steroids, his shoulders are a bit to small, just like the neck which is to long). I'm ok with the Wings of the Sith fighter, except for the ones on the rear...these should be a bit thinner.
But all in all, excellent work.

You are totaly right, Steve. I'll do this next timeSteveK14 wrote:It would be helpful if all of you did some searches on the internet and found some pictures of what you are talking about. Then post them so everyone can understand what you are talking about.-Yock- wrote:Isn't the wings of the sith fighter thinner? What I remember of it is that it was a thin thing.
It would also help to aleviate misunderstandings that lead to flaming, booting, banning, etc.
Steve
Still, I think the wings should be thinner. It makes the fighter look more nimble.

To all of the above (the ones complaining about stuff), please, I am saying this on the behalf of Gogie's stress, please let off only if a little? He's working on this map hard. The last thing he really needs is people complaining about how things look. I'm just saying what I think. Right now I think he's just only looking forward to finishing this map (or at least getting a public version out). Be thankful he's working on the thing at all.
Good work, Gogie. Keep up the great work, and take it easy.
To everyone. If that seemed like a griping at you guys, it wasn't intended to be, I'm just trying to keep it less stressful on Gogie.

If Gogie is stressed because of people on a forum, then he needs to understand that mapping is not something he has to do, and that he should do it because he likes doing it. Also, it doesn't matter what other people think, it's all about you and how you feel. If other people like it, good for them. If they don't, then they won't download the map and neither person's life will change. If he's getting stressed about this and it's influencing his life, then he should seriously consider stop working on it.
Either way, I don't see anyone complaining (besides minilogoguy18) about the models. On the other hand, most people are nearly worshiping him.

man if you cant handle a lil criticism then you should stay curled up in the corner of your room living with your parents for all of eternity. im telling you these things so you can change them and make them better, the people screaming about how perfect the models look are just kissing Diet Dr. Pepper, you should listen more to people who give real criticism so that you can improve things. they dont have to be spot on but they should at least be a lil closer in resemblence rather than the basic shape. you should also stop using the same red and grey textures for everything, theres no contrast between any of the textures, look like you just made a simple texture projection and used the same image over and over.

Honestly, I actually thought the models looked good and still do look good. I think the entire map looks completely awesome!minilogoguy18 wrote:...the people screaming about how perfect the models look are just kissing [word not allowed], you should listen more to people who give real criticism so that you can improve things.
Sure, I agree, negative and positive criticism are key to making a map better. Just try to word it just a little more kindly. Not, in a sense, "Your models and textures suck, re-do them completely." You think somebody's gonna wanna listen to that or take your advice? I wouldn't, that's for sure.
Just think about what you say before you say it and how you say it.

Dude, I normally try not to be a jerk, but I'm gonna say what everyone is thinking right now. It's not up to your standards, so it's not good enough. But the reality is that modelers with mega-high standards usually spend so much time perfecting things that models never see the light of day.minilogoguy18 wrote:man if you cant handle a lil criticism then you should stay curled up in the corner of your room living with your parents for all of eternity. im telling you these things so you can change them and make them better, the people screaming about how perfect the models look are just kissing [word not allowed], you should listen more to people who give real criticism so that you can improve things. they dont have to be spot on but they should at least be a lil closer in resemblence rather than the basic shape. you should also stop using the same red and grey textures for everything, theres no contrast between any of the textures, look like you just made a simple texture projection and used the same image over and over.
Now, I *do* agree that Gogie's models can use work, but on the other hand I'd say they have lots of potential as well. The whole problem folks are having with your crits is that the way you word things gives the impression that you're arrogant and this air of "your models suck" type of thing. I'd say you're (Mini) the best modeler here, and I think most of the users would agree. So critiquing is really important from you. There just needs to be a certain amount of tact in there as well.
I'm sorry if that's offensive, I really am. But it needed to be said.

That was all that needed to be said, I agree with Karnage. Models always can be improved, and Gogie's on his way to improving them. The models aren't done, they were always clearly marked WIP, but even so, I'm impressed.
Minilogoguy; its true that in the "real world" people are a bit more open, and furthermore, it is acceptable to comment on potential improvements. But its also often considered rude to bluntly degrade another's work, even if your intentions are only to assist, as I'm sure your's were. Your tone, the words that you use, they always will play a large role in how you're perceived.
You would get the same message across to Gogie by saying
"Good work so far, but there are texture problems with the Sith Fighter and the model's wings are to far apart. I'd love to help you fix the textures and the awkward coloring, I like to see high quality models!"
That considerably softens you tone, shows you see room for improvement, and shows that you know how to fix it. I'm sure if you had said it a bit more professionally that not so many people would've jumped on you >_<' .

On Topic:
I'd like to hear back from some of the beta testers. (Those lucky guys). Specifically on the points of map size, frame rate and bot intelligence...
@Gogie: this topic became a bit of a drama, but this map is undoubtedly one of the most sought after/highly anticipated maps on the forums. You've taken alot of heat while constructing it, but know that everyone is impressed by the high level of skill you're showing. We should know you're not an expert modeler, and that you're taking it a day at a time.
Good work! ^-^
