Damagable assualt ships?

Ive been trying to find a way so the assualt ship can actually take damage when its shield is down and not just take damage on the life support and etc

I think their odfs have 0 health as infinite, since when you fly over them, the tab aboutit shows up, so set the health to like 300

incorrect Grev, their health setting is: 99999999. 300 would be easy to kill... Look atthe ship's .odf, also, if they take damge... What will you do when it runs out of health.

Yeah, and don't jedis have 8000 health? If you set it too 300 you could just destroy it with a scout fighters secondary! It should be like 50000!

hmmm I edited the odfs and although the cis ship now has there parts destroyed by around 4 hits
I lowered the health to 1000 but they still don't die?

good news there is a way but it will need some refining for when such happens all people in the hangar will spawn contunously into space :funny2:

Well, I guessed. Im not sure about the number. Then set it to that after the shield blows up and all is destroyed, it can bne destroyed easy. Greivous's ship was taken down easy. Some turret fire....

Lots of turrets. Anyway there arn't any capital explosion effects are there? :wink: This feels like something not worth pursuing for a first map I think. Start small and go big! :thumbs:

You could probably ask Tsurgai (is that his name?) to make an effect like that. He did make the Time Bomb x 30 thing. A good effect could be the Y-Wing's Bomb explosion effect x 50...

And then what? The ship dissapears? :| You need a pro effect person to make an explosion like the acclamator explosion or any other frigate explosion.

If you destroy such a ship, it just dissapears leaving the hangar/interior behind. Which looks/is silly.

Maybe you could attach a damage limit to the hangar , control room, etc.?

Yep, you need chunks. you could make a second set of the ship parts that call for a damaged looking texture for chunks. THen youd have to implement linked destroyables script so when all the chunks health is depleted everything related to the interior is destroyed - OR, you could try this: Make everything in the ship destroyable, with high health. THen make the final ship explosion have super high damage that would destroy the interior pieces.

But then people inside could eventually destroy it..
Or can you spawn inside vehicle spawnings? You could make the whole thing a vehicle and then spawn inside of it...

Thats why you give everything your not suppose to able to destroy super high health,so high only the explosion you give super high damage can destroy it. Youd still need to connect the 4 ship chunks script wise or else youd be able to destroy the front and then glitch fly around the inside of the ship.

Here's my personal opinions on it:

1-Fighters couldn't actually destroy a capital ship. If it was possible they'd need to stay alive for hours and hours and have 20x more ammo than they could carry.

2-When you destroy a capital ship there's just way to many things liked to it. Four separate pieces of the outside, the forcefield, the hangar, the outside destroyable parts, the inside destroyable parts, the interior, the turrets, the turret control stations, the med droid, the ammo droid, the vehicle spawns and the player spawn paths. Some could say you could link all that up in a LUA, which may be true, but seems like much more problem than it's worth.

3-You'd have to have massive chunks, like other people have said. Chunks don't have collision (though they could possibly be built with it, I dunno) so you have these huge pieces of the ship going right through fighters.
