realistic shots

Post by Fluffy_the_ic »

Okay. I was thinking of starting a map that's kinda like an indiana jones map (honoring movie four). And I was wondering if it's possible to make the actual shot black and the muzzle flash red or orange or something. Please note I might not make this map, but still think it'll be useful.

The weapon .odf controls the muzzleflash color (if you've left in the commented-out headers it's under HUD/Controller Values). The weapon_ord .odf controls the texture of the bolt. FYI, if you're trying to make bullets I would not just skin a bolt black, though, that will look ugly. I'd use either a small .msh or set up "tracers" like the chaingun uses.

I tend to change my mind quickly, and i realized that this would never work out for me, so i'm not doing it. I'll post something about it in request thread. But Mav, thanks for the quick tut, so I'll try to get in one map to see how it works for me.

with changing the muzzle flash all you have to do is edit the four numbers in the odf file of the weapon that control the weapon. the first one is red second green third blue. I have made it so the muzzle flash and the actual bullets are different in my map.

He's talking about the Indiana Jones map. It would be EXTREMELY hard for me. I can't even get the right shape for Mr Peanut on XSI. Or add CPs or foliage or anything.

Maybe I'll pick it up after the movie comes out.
