Well i made a model using maya8 with a texture mapped out in maya.

Did you add a new texture in XSI? (Just assign the same texture)

if you want to export a model with texture use .fbx
obj export only the model

Well, .fbx is better for this purpose, because it was created specifically for interchange among the major 3d suites.

my experience is, that you use obj only to export and import models, thats work good, for export models with textures or animations use fbx not obj.
and i never get a obj export to export the textures, too.
and "its not true" is not a good Statement

yeah i found that texturing tut to be a little haggard after reading over it just to see how well it explained it even though i know how to add textures. ok first thing is first, hit 8 to open the explorer and then hit M to open the material library in the explorer and delete everything in there. now hit 3 to activate the render panel on the left and do get>texture>image and click on yes and a dialogue box will pop up and click on new>new file from source and browse for your texture and there you go. .obj will export UVs from what ive seen but .fbx is a far better format to use since itll do bones and animations, its almost like the .xsi of alias. if you want the .fbx importer for XSI then you just gotta download it from autodesk.com.

I said THAT'S not ITS ... also it's a clear statement. I've used obj many times before and I've managed to get the textures in with almost no trouble at all..

Agent007, can you do me the favor from now on and instead of double posting you simply press the

button and edit your post before?
I'm just saying it because you posted something after 10 minutes.. so just edit if you had the latest post
Dragonum, Are there are 'public hosters' for the XSI .FBX* Plug-in?
if you ask me, .OBJ* Isn't exactly the most relyable format, but hey: everyone has other opinions
