That would be a great contest for those of us who can't draw/model, but it would have to be limited to only those assets.

That would be pretty challenging (especially if we weren't allowed to use command posts

).

Re: Decision of Taris as a location:
When the manager at JKFiles and I were trying to decide a location, we must've gone through about fifty different options. Here were the criteria we wanted to meet:
1) Reasonable difficulty level (for JKA and SWBF2)
2) Planet not overused for either game
Here's why this is tough - not only have both games been out for a number of years (and as a result have seen many different environments mapped), but what's "easy" in SWBF2 seems almost diametrically opposed to what's "easy" in JKA. Easy for us is outside, open maps. Easy for them is interior/city maps. I mentioned (and we eventually decided upon) Taris because it has a number of environments possible, it's not often used, and I knew - and I was thinking specifically of the assets we have available - that a number of the environments mentioned were definitely possible with easily-available assets. I know it seems like a bit of a challenge, but I would encourage anyone feeling that way to read through the tips I posted in the second newspost (as seen in the first post here) - also, watch the videos. You'll probably see that this is more manageable than you think.

Yeah, basically you give the mappers a theme and a set of prefabs/assets for them to start from, in this case possibly some Taris buildings. Then users who can't model have something to start with.

That's exactly what went through my mind after a few minutes of thinking about it. At first I thought Taris would be far-fetched for a lot of people, but then I saw the suggestions near the bottom of the Filefront post and realized that most of it is actually completely doable. One of the screenshots showed platforms that could easily be made from Kamino assets which wouldn't even need much of a reskin, and the Lower City/Outcast camp is completely doable with the assets we have - there are only a few things from that section that might require custom models, and I can think of props from released assets we have that would fit perfectly.

Two simple Taris assets: A tower and a street-decor thing. They arent the best models, but they should be helpful for people who cant make their own models yet want a more "authentic" taris building.
(The Taris Skyscraper really needs to be reskinned)

Yeah, I see why this planet was chosen, I have modded for JKA before and making exteriors is a hard thing to do, Battlefront II has soo many assets already that with a little creativity, and some intense Tga editing, you can use just about anything to make this idea possible.

the rules say that you have to use the standard sides for the playable sides. this would include the ep2 clones and/or the snow/urban/fleet rebel sides, right?

I believe Mav said that you can make custom locals, though.

yep, the standard locals wouldn't represent well enough, so custom locals are allowed

Nobody will make a map for you, if that's what you're asking.

I think he means help him get started mapping. It would be stupid to ask someone else to make a map for you.

It does? I don't see why anyone would be stupid enough to ask someone to make a map so you can submit it in a competition.
