WARNING! If you don't like blood, violence, or generally scary things, you'll want to leave this thread. This game has been rated Mature by the ESRB for good reasons. The gore in the linked video is not much worse than you might see in Alien, and only amounts to a few seconds onscreen, but I don't want to scar anyone for life. Really. /disclaimer

This game's about a month away from release, and I've not seen it mentioned here yet. So, I've decided to throw this out there, to possibly get some discussion and other forum-y things going. This one's being developed by Rebellion, who made the first AvP for the PC. Anyway, now for a trailer, or two. Again, if you don't like blood or alien parasites rending flesh, now's the time to get to the board index.

I would post the interview with Lance Henriksen, but, you know, cursing, more gore...yeah. :P

im not a fan of especially gory games (and even less of gory movies) but this looks like a totally new multiplayer experience (i havent played any aliengames before, maybe im wrong), anyway i think it will be evyr cool to play the aliens (walking on the ceiling etc.) and predators (being invisible etc.), the coolest thing would be a bettle between all three fractions at once

the storymode looks extremely creepy, but i imagine that the base/relearchlab-setting can become very repetive

if id buy it (i wont because my computer willmnever be able to handle it) id buy it for the multiplayer

I played both AvP and AvP2 and loved those games, those were actually the first horror games Ive ever played. Multiplayer was also cool, expecially if you get facehugged.
And you had practically 3 games packed in one, a horror fps (marine), an arcade kill'em all fps (predator) and stealth action (alien).

But to be honest playing the marines was always my favorite, especially when its dark in my room, and therefore I wish SEGA would publish Aliens: Colonial Marines first (which will come out near the end of 2010 or next year although I believe its almost done).

The previous games allowed three-way battles, and so does this one. They were a lot of fun in multiplayer. I'm still kind of wondering if they're going to use the Alien life cycle in MP, like they did with AvP2. Finding out someone molted into a queen, well, I'd run. :P The singleplayer will also feature all three factions in their own campaign, so it'll only be the marine campaign that's really creepy. The lab/base setting my be old, but if it's pulled off well, I'm ok with that.

Minimum Requirements:
Windows 7/ XP/Vista
1 GB System RAM (XP)/ 2 GB System RAM (Vista)
3.2 GHz Intel Pentium 4/Athlon 64 3000+ or equivalent processor
DirectX 9.0c compliant video card with 128 MB RAM (NVIDIA 6600 or better, ATI X1600 or better)

Recommended Requirements:
Windows 7/ XP/Vista
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 or equivalent processor
2 GB System RAM
DirectX 9.0c compliant video card with 512 MB RAM (NVIDIA 8800 series, ATI HD2900 PRO or better)

My computer's two years old, and is just below (darn CPU!) recommended spec. If you've bought even a decent midrange PC within the last year (or a pretty high end one within around 2 years), give or take a few months, you should at least find it playable. Btw, I'm getting much of my info from aliensvspredator.net, if anyone's wondering where I'm getting this.

Getting facehugged was cool? I hated those things! I used to have such a hard time seeing them, and I'd nearly fall out of my chair when they latched onto me. Xenomorphs give me nightmares. I can still hear the scratching noises they made! *shudder*

I've wanted Colonial Marines to get out sooner as well, but I believe they actually pushed the release back for AvP. In this case, I didn't find out about Colonial Marines until a month or so before stumbling into some E3 footage of AvP, so I really don't mind. Either way, I'll be happy with this year, and possibly a much of the next.
