Hey hey hey, I was about to say something more or less like that. It goes something like "Wouldn't it be awesome if we were germs living inside the brain of a mouse?"
And then that mouse lives inside a universe that itself is contained within the brain cell of another mouse and...yeah...it's good to not think about this stuff too much. I makes your head asplode.

I don't think so. Patterns are naturally found in nature, especially fractals.

Naturally in nature? No wai...

You're right though, certain shapes do form naturally, such as the thread-node type composition of the brain and the universe (and tree-root systems now that I think of it). It doesn't make things necessarily related, but it's certainly fun to entertain the idea of the universe being a giant brain...

Astrophysics find crazy stuff like this all the time. Another example:

The Hexagon is an example of a shape that forms rarely in nature, so scientists were predictably freaked out when they saw this:
Hidden/Spoiler:

That is an infrared image of one of Saturn's poles. It consists of a giant swirling storm that is a hexagon. It turns out that the hexagon is due to convection cells within the planet swirling gas in and out in triangular slices that meet up at the poles. It took them about 30 years for them to come to that conclusion though, until then it was a pretty mind-blowing freak of nature.

:funny2: Yeah, that was pretty redundant. Commonly is a better choice.
