I am very frustrated with mod tools.
When I munge my new map into BF2, the map title is 'TST%s_%s', and my 3-letter Map ID is TST. Can someone please help? I thought I did everything right, but is there some patch or fix that I am missing? I just really want to test my map, but I always have some kind of error. I really need help!!!! :cpu:

Do you have the 1.1 patch installed?

If you don't, then go HERE and go to question #3. If you do and your map is also crashing while trying to load, go to question #7. If the former is the case, then just install the patch and you're good to go. If the latter is the case, then apply the fix, but any previously created maps will not be playable, you will have to make a new one.

There's Only one problem with that, ant that is that it says you do not need to update so I can't install the patch!

Did you try reinstalling battlefront? It might update itself automatically, I'm not 100%sure about this though

Make sure you get the right one. There are different patches for different regions, CD, DVD, etc.

Okay, it's good now. I downloaded a version switcher and switched it to version 1.0, so now I can install the version 1.1 patch! Problem solved!! Wait, no, I'm getting that error again when I try to run the 1.1 patch setup. It Says:
Star Wars Battlefront II is already up to date.
You don't need to install this update.
That's what it says!!! So now I can't release or play ANY of my mods!!!!!! But I will keep trying. :google:

I can't find a DVD patch. And I can't install it because the version switcher didn't work!!! :x It is really getting annoying if everything I try doesn't work!!!

Wait, is every SWBFII disk install the version 1.1? Is there a disk I can buy with version 1.0? Can I get a link or something? Where can I buy it? Will a steam version work?

steam automatically patches the game to 1.1, and yes, the steam version of the game will work just fine with the mod tools. Im using steam right now.

You don't need to install the 1.1 patch in order to play mods. This patch would change the
TST%s_%s to the actual name of your world, but that's all. Your map crashing is most likely not related to it. Try generating a BFront2.txt by trying to play you map with the debug exe instead.

Where do you find the debug.exe?

It's the BF2_modtools.exe that comes with the ModTools. Move it into whatever\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData (where the game's BattlefrontII.exe is), run it, load your map and let it crash. A BFront2.txt is generated inside of GameData, post it's contents here if you don't get what it is trying to tell you.

If you have the DVD version of SWBF2 download and use the BF2_modtools_NoDVD.exe, a link can be found in our glorious FAQ.
