Anyone playing the beta currently?
Its free until Saturday on fileplanet and now with High Rez beta version.
Get your key and download it and let others know what you think.

I played last night for about 5 hours. I can say that so far its the exact engine that guild wars uses , even some of the commands made it over /dance.

In short so far it seems like if you like D&D "alot" or love guild wars and being in groups , this game will be your dream come true. Imho the game isnt massive at all. Almost everything is instanced so youll never "have any random chance of making new adventure friends". All groups are planned in city areas and after 3rd level there are NO solo missions at all. SO youll be forced to group with players that you never know how skilled they are and usually with names like Harry Peter, GUild Wars CLone and other goofy names.

Its gorgeous just like GW but the quests are geared for 10 year olds with a.d.d. and are often a checklist of things to do .vs a real sense of adventure. I will continue to play this tonight and post as nuetral of a view as I can but take note , I know Gary Gygax and he was ripped off by wizards of the coast so....... Waiting for 2 years to play this beta hasnt raelly paid off yet. If i knew they would use the Guild Wars engine I would never have pined over this thing.

Nimlot is playing too find us easily when you get in the game by typing /tell guru your a nerd and /tell nimlot get a job.

I rolled a 20 Woot!

1.6 times as much as the BF2 beta!

EDIT: GAH! JUST FOUND THE HI-REZ VERSION! 2.5GB!

yeah i had to uninstall some other items to play this. Its 98% guild wars, so if you played that your all set with this ddo ! I swear turbine stanked this title up hard. The beta is buggy and thats expected but the 2 races/classes i made couldnt even use their abilities, sorcerer that couldnt cast and rogue that couldnt see. playablility is low if your excited for true massive play, the instanced part of the game ruins any chance at random encounters or grouping with wanderers , its more like your in a slammed laggy city begging anyone to join your group , then you get in and find out no one knows how to play. Its sad. You do the quest, not in a mysertious fashion as a quest should be , but you do items on a checklist and cant progress until each step is done, lol. Tonight the GMs came on and didnt even know how to use global chat so they continued to have a private conversation over the entire server, LOL. In short they bought the guild wars engine slapped d&D on it and called it done. THey dont even know how to use it yet. Im a hardcode d&d fan but this game held my attention for about 45 minutes after I realized its , instanced quest, goto city , spam for group, repeat. snore snore.

A really good D&D game is Neverwinter Nights. It is one of the best RPG's I hav played, rivalling KOTOR. It has an awesome story.

Yes, I have to admit that BioWare has made a great work for these two games... Also, have you ever tried either KotOR II or NeverWinter Nights II, both designed by Obsidian Entertainment ? (The "follower" of BioWare Studios...)

That's right, NeverWinter Nights II isn't out yet, but it has been scheduled for this year, so waiting won't last... (You should also visit this page, and BioWare / Obsidian forums, in order to get more informations about this game...)
