Cannot Install Mod Tools

Okay, well I searched for this throughout the SWBF2 Modding topic and didn't find it anywhere.

One of my friends cannot install the BF2 Mod Tools.

He double-clicks on the .exe and it doesn't launch.

Any suggestions? Or has anyone encountered the same problem before?

open the task manager and see if you can find the exe in the process list and if its in there end the process cause its probably just locked up, ive had this happen with other things before. if the process doesnt end then restart your PC and re-launch it.

Hello to you all...

To all those who did not know this, I am the person that is having these difficulties with the concerned Modification Tool. I am pretty familiar with different Files and The Internet, and I have never confronted this problem before. The thing that I find mysterious is that I can run all .EXE files - Except this file that has the name ''swbattlefrontiimodtools.exe''. After reading the Penguin's reply located in this topic, I redownloaded the file ( From different Web-Sites ) and still, it did not work...

If someone can help me with this quest, I will be forever grateful !... Image

Linus! You're back! Well, I don't know quite what is wrong with your tools. What kind of computer are you running and have you tried re-downloading?

Have you installed it in a 'path' with spaces in it...?

such as C:\Program Files\LucasArts\etc.

lolz, Linus: "these difficulties with the concerned Modification Tool"

Your Lev-days will come.. some day

but seriously - Have you installed it once before? Try moving the .exe to another place such as the Desktop or rightclick and Run As... (and then select a user :P Who knows?)

What version of windows are you using again..? (or maybe you're using a mac?)

Or maybe Windows is blocking it. In that case you need to go to properties and uncheck some kind of windows blocking checkbox.

Some time ago, I couldn't open a different .exe. The .exe would launch and I could see it in the process list but it didn't do anything. I started it about five times (lol) and stopped 4 processes of it. Then, after a few seconds it suddenly started. I don't kow where this kind of problem comes from but it doesn't seem to be memmory/cpu related. Maybe the computer has trouble reading the file. Try de-fragmentating the disc the .exe is located on. Maybe that works.

Good luck

How long was he waiting to open it each time? Sometimes with bigger files (for me anyway) it may take up to 10 minutes for it to actually be on desktop. Just tell him to wait until there's only one icon and it looks ready to open. Clicking it before that usually freezes people or just does nothing, like what's happening to your friend.

Off-topic : It is my deepest apology that I had not read this post belonging to Linus.

It would be to many suggestions of the people, and my own, that this posting style not be used as it uses advanced words and is unnecessarily long. However, my pre-given advice still applies to this dilema as it worked for me during the short time I obtained the Star Wars Battlefront II Modification Tools but experienced some rare side-effects causing the screen of deadly blueness. However, if this method does not work, then try some of the other posters' advice...

(In other words I didn't feel like reading it :P)

Well said, Fusion.

It was a problem, which also happened with Levy's old style: I usually had to line his entire posts into small sentences. Call it human nature to be lazy.

and at least you didn't say your mod tools were concerned

Linus, anything here helped?

Good lord, I am really tired of that everyone is comparing me to the now more unactive Jedi Administrator Leviathan. Can you please stop it? In my very own opinion, think that you should not see my special way of writing as a copy of the old Master's. See it as a tribute to him - Leviathan learned me that it is amusing to use uncommon words.
Allright, let's get back to the Topic and it's Original Subject...
Have you installed it once before?
Yes, Qdin, I have. I cannot see the reason why it should not work several times...

Me n'either :? updated any drivers or something lately - or maybe you haven't?

Linus, may I remind you that on MSN I said for WEEKS that you shouldn't copy Leviathan because you were the 28th person doing that, when you first joined Gametoast as a registered user? Remember your constant replies? "Lol. But its fun!"
and while we're at it, you're now one of the last thinking that it's actually amusing using uncommon words. You can't claim a joke is fun if you're the only one laughing... :?
You made yourself compared to Lev' when you first started. I don't really see why using his 'style' of writing can be a tribute.. Nothing can beat the original anyways :)

try ctrl + alt + delete and rightclick and 'new job' (or whatever you'd call it) and run it from there. Maybe something is stealing all of your CPU? :o
