Mav, didnt pulled something out since august 2011
Manderek didnt since 2010

And many modders didnt since 2008 these were only a few examples
This comunity will be dead soon since there are no big modding project (except unification, and battlefront 2013) at work
What makes you think that???? Just because some people aren't
modding as much as they used to (or modding at all) doesn't mean that the community is going to die. New modders come in all the time, and what makes you think there are "no big modding projects besides MEU and BF2013"? If you go into the map/mod work in progress section you'll see a whole bunch (ex. 153rd legion, Battlefront The Clone Wars, Strangers Era Mod, Star Wars Battlefront United (not on that page yet), and so on. I don't see how you think that this community is dying.

Well, NoMatt, the game is 8 years old! I dont think the community will ever truly become dead. In fact I think it is getting stronger with lots of new modders (myself included!) I agree with Nedarb7 here. My project will be fairly large too! (see my 3d art WIP thread) Its just taking forever since I am making about 99% custom assets. Im striving for a realistic type feel, as well as damaged. Trust me, making damaged props/textures is NOT EASY! It would be so much simpler to make clean ones but in the process of making damaged ones I am learning more than I would otherwise. So in conclusion I think the community is getting stronger, and that it wont be dead for at least another couple years, despite how old the game is.

I often joke about how the site has more rules than frequent posters now. The problem is that we are mostly about modding two games that came out on sixth generation consoles when the eighth generation is already starting after an unusually long seventh. You can try to make it look good, but the game is still from 2005, and it's going to look and play like it's from 2005 no matter how hard you all try.
It's starting to become apparent that if Gametoast is going to survive it needs to focus on a new game. I just hope it's a good choice, because I don't think we could survive losing a lot of members due to them not liking the choice.

The numbers of daily posts makes me think that. And youre 3d art thread is nice, really but thats only a map not a map pack. If i dont look at gt lets say 2 days i only have to read a few posts to get updated. And a reskin mod like ants is a nice thing and i will download it because it'll be fun. But mods like this are not going to keep a game alive. Or this comunity.
If the administrstion become to inactive they will deactivate their servers and this will be the final dead of swbf. I know i cant tell you what they will do but thats the logic result of server costs and other cons. Or did you bet that gt will be alive 2020?

This forum will never die just because its based around an 8 year old game  . I agree that we should broaden the amount of games that we play and/or mod, but never forget your roots fusion..... I mean seriously, i personally have been playing Battlefront 2 since its came out, and i can truthfully say ive never had as much fun playing a game then i have playing battefront. Battlefront is pure nostalgia (excuse my spelling), some even consider it part of their childhood. I also think a lot of people would agree that battlefront can still hold out against some modern games. *cough* CoD *cough*....Anyway i have to ask that you keep the battlefront part of the forum open if u do decide to expand.

By the way, if this "new" game is CoD.......i might be the first one to leave

I don't decide anything on this site, I'm not an admin.

Battlefront 1 and 2 aren't really my roots, my roots are in Asteroids, Pokemon, and Metroid Fusion. Battlefront was more of a social hangout for me anyway, and even that changed years ago when Halo 3 came out. I enjoyed Battlefront way more than I probably should have, but as I get older I start to see the faults with the game and I really don't enjoy it anymore.

Don't worry about this becoming a Call of Duty site. It won't be happening. Anything CoD touches turns to...well, you know, not gold. Be it Halo 4, the games industry, or websites, it all starts to be watered down for the lowest common denominator. Might make a few more people look into it than usual, but when you try to go for an audience that throws away one shiny thing for another, newer shiny thing in record times, expect to get thrown away and not have your original audience to support you anymore due to changing the very thing that made them go to you in the first place.

Anyways, I've probably turned this thread in the wrong direction. I won't be leaving anytime soon, but I haven't touched a Battlefront game in over an entire year. I mostly just stay here to make sure the site doesn't turn into Detroit or New York circa 1975.

It's just kind of sad how we don't have a new game in the series that isn't a handheld port of a game that never existed.

Ah astroids! i used to love that game when i was little! I know what you mean, but I was kind of referring to the site's roots. And actually a halo 4 section of the forum would be quite nice. And cleb we were actually just discussing what would happen if there were to be a new game added to the general forum. Don't worry, no downfall of battlefront/gametoast/forum today

Yeeeaaaahhh, it is a bit odd, but once again i dont think we have to worry about gametoast shutting down anytime soon.... I guess what they say is true about technology, it's a double edged sword

For the record, I did my part. You may or may not know that Lucasfilm set up a closed-group survey deal that I managed to get into, and the last survey a couple days ago was about what we would like to see in LucasArts' future endeavors, mainly 1313, but a few of their other projects, too. A couple of questions were about shooters, specifically the Battlefront series and the Republic Commando series, and I marked down that I would be strongly interested in seeing those come back to the PC/console realm.

So you're welcome.

Could we make this an official topic of discussion, though? All we need is one project, something to get GT noticed as a place to mod such-and-such game that isn't SWBF2. It doesn't even have to be Star Wars (though it would be nice). Not everyone has to agree to it, but we'd need to find new members who like THAT game, and to do that, we need an audience that isn't our small and shrinking group.

:funny2: I literally barked with laughter. Making fun of Detroit never gets old.

Anyway. Frayed Wires Studios never intends to leave Gametoast, which were essentially our roots in every way. Except for SWBF Files, this was my only home for a long time on the internet.

I don't mod much right now, but it's not because I lost interest in SWBF2. It's just... a long story that can be summarized as "I have a lot of real life issues and choose to use my time to play games instead of mod them right now in order to relieve stress".

Ironic how Fusion's post about controlling the community led to a huge chain of off-topic posts.
Anyhow, I'm back from a bunch of college visits.

I didn't start the fire. It was already being discussed at least 3 posts before I added to it.

Hey guys, instead of arguing, let's stop and concentrate on me instead!

On that note, 9.5 month deployments suck. :themoreyouknow:
