That is some very impressive work wolf, there's no need to be modest about it

It's not a matter of being modest, I just have very low confidence in my work. I'm working on that issue though, I'm not as bad as I used to be. :p

:p Trust me man, you really are one of the top contributors and modders I know of. Beside that, this project is looking like its getting some amazing additions compared to the last version which was already great.

This is looking great guys! Can't wait to download it.
Any new maps coming in the patch?
EDIT: It seems you've made gameplay flow much better, and the models look great as always. Is there changelog available?

Wee
Looking really forward to this.
I'm hoping for some good maps (I'd like to see more height differences) cause that's the greatest "issue", imho.
Keep it up!

Strange music, interesting look at gameplay. Is the music from the ME series?

Music track is "My Weakness" by Moby. We chose it as we recently fell in love with that song after hearing it in the season 7 finale of the X-Files. We felt it fit with the slow tempo of the video.

Re: Mass Effect: Unification (build 20130512.2206)
In regards to the trailer itself, if I'm honest it was unimpressive. To put some substance behind that statement let me say this: I didn't feel it was necessary. There wasn't immediately something that jumped out at me and said "Look at me, I'm new!" The forest map might be new (is it?), but there was nothing there that told me that.
I guess what I'm saying is trailers are great and all but for most mod releases they're a waste of time in my opinion. Unless you point out to the viewer what's new they don't really see it, and the time spent recording, editing and uploading could be spent modding -- or, even better, playing.
That being said I am and always will be a huge supporter of this mod.

If I'm correct, the forest map is this one.Teancum wrote:The forest map might be new (is it?), but there was nothing there that told me that.

Heh, it's actually not supposed to be a trailer, but rather just a test video for slow-motion gameplay capture that I had decided to upload as sort of a promotional video.Teancum wrote:In regards to the trailer itself, if I'm honest it was unimpressive. Re: Mass Effect: Unification (build 20130512.2206)
Less as a comment on this trailer (although it applies) and more as a comment on mod trailers/promos in general: they're all too long, and that's the root problem that makes people feel the way Tean does here. I've made this mistake numerous times too, so I'm not speaking from a pedestal or anything - trailers should be about ninety seconds long. Any longer and you lose interest. If you keep them short and punchy, you'll leave people wanting more, which is the whole point.Teancum wrote:In regards to the trailer itself, if I'm honest it was unimpressive. For those of you with Youtube channels, look at your analytics and check your retention statistics. I can almost guarantee that by the one-minute mark you'll have lost about half your viewers, regardless of the length of the video. The "miniskirt rule" applies here, as it does in many things.

Also its less work on your part. Less time means less recording, and more for changing and editing faster after each render.
On another note, that map looks pretty sweet. It is good to have forest-y type maps.

Re: Mass Effect: Unification (build 20130512.2206)
Following with another critique on the map, it looked pretty sparse in the areas where battle takes place, with little-to-no cover. I may have simply overlooked it though, but if not there I can see it being an issue. On the positive side, I really liked the overall ambiance of the map, overcast, downpour, lush forest, makes me think of washington a little.
I actually liked the music and slow-motion footage a lot (they worked well together), but I didn't really notice anything that stood out as "new" other than the map.
