I think Gametoast should have an "Map/Mod Announcements" forum section, which would allow people to announce modding projects that they may just be starting, or just have in the planning stages. Other members can also make suggestions about what to put in the map or how it should be set up. Then when the maker has really got a start on the map, they can make a WIP topic with screens in the Map/Mod WIP section.

You can just use the SWBF2 General forum for recruiting for projects.

well it wouldn't just be for recruiting other modders for the project, i'm saying it would be a way for people to announce projects as well as getting help planning how it can be set up. It could also have a "Map Idea" sticky topic like our Maps/Mods requests sticky.

The whole reason we have the rule about 50% or more completion to set up a WIP thread is because otherwise, we'd be inundated with half-baked ideas that never see the light of day, insomuch as release is concerned. Generating interest is all well and good, but if you can't at least put together enough to show 50% development, then there's hardly a guarantee you're committed to it.

We have enough WIPs that never get finished - and that's just the ones that are allegedly 50% or more. I could forsee maybe 10% (and that's being generous, in my opinion) of the maps in this "announcement" section ever being finished. It would be a collossal waste of forum space.

Besides, what would that be, three topics for every map? Pass, thanks.

indeed , folks here love to post "IDEAS" and never make anything happen of it. Im all about the show 50% of your work or just keep it in your head.
