The makers have said that they are open to doing a sequel, and would rather like to

Really? I haven't seen it yet, but I'm not sure if a sequel would be a good idea.

Yeah, a sequel doesnt sound very good...

I wish I never found this topic though. It made me think to go on YouTube and watch trailers of the movie. After I watched them, the sensation causing me to want to see the movie disappeared. :|

I always thought I didnt care about spoilers. Guess I was wrong. >.<

From what I heard, there were two or three types of people who saw it:

12-year-olds who want the movie to explain everything in enormous detail, but then complain there wasn't enough action, :quotes: "nothing like Transformers!" :quotes:

And then there were the people who complained it was too much like transformers, and who wouldn't enjoy a second of it because it wasn't made especially to them.

The third group praised the movie for it's writing and entertainment value. They were either critics or casual film buffs.

I hope there where no 12 year olds in that movie. It's rated R and has 96 f-bombs in it.

I honestly don't know how it has any similarity to transformers at all...except for the mechanized suit...which i suppose if you squint at it for long enough it may look a bit like a transformer....though then again so does a twig...

Nothing compared to Grand Theft Auto IV & Gears of War (1 or 2, take your pick), yet think of all the kids that age that play 'em... just throwing that out there. :D

I really wanna see this movie. I haven't looked through the first page, as I don't want too many spoilers, so I donno if anyone's said this, but District 9 is based on Alive in Joburg, a 7-8 minute long short film made in 2005 (whose director was offered the director's seat for the Halo film that'll never come), which was based on the real District Six.

I never said it was anything like transformers, the point I was getting at is that tasteless pre-teens wanted it to be a mindless slobberknocker like Transformers and left disappointed, victims of their own closed minds.

"Two"
-"Shhhh!"

[...]
"Thirty-six."
-"AHRG!"

"Thirty-seven."
-"SHUT UP!"

"Thirty-eight."
-"SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHT!!!!11!!11!!!%#11!!55@!"

[...]

"Ninety-three."
-"SHUT THE F...
"Ninety-four."
-"...UP YOU YOU F..."
"Ninety-five"
-"...ANNOYING STUPID F..."
"Ninety-six. The end." *Walks away*

I saw it the other day. Best film since The Dark Knight.

I found out what the sequel is about. The aliens start breeding by bursting out of people's chests, christopher comes back with more robots and decides to kill everyone, but then Megan Fox convinces him not to, wikus stabs megan in the back and leads the invading aliens, and there'll be less story, more action!

8) Just kidding. I hope more summer movies are like district 9.

I can see why you would, but the movie makes a good stand-alone cult film.

Indeed. Even if it fades from public memory, which it will, it will live on for a long time.

Yeah, I've heard that too. The add looks awesome. Like Caleb1117 said, too bad the movie's rated R. I'll bet you they could've easily made it a PG-13. The Halo Movie sounds cool too, and I have high hopes seeing as Peter Jackson is the producer.
The main character drops Fbombs as if they're 80% of his script. It's quite fitting though, with the situation he's in. And wholes it's rather violent, I absolutely loved it as a social satire.

Even if you took out the F-bombs and the violence, there is some pretty messed up stuff that isn't violent at all. I'd even say it's a bit disturbing. (To those that have seen it, it's toward the beginning so you know what I'm talking about...)
