I just played as Desann last night and he looks kinda like a Covenant Elite, without the 4 mandibles.

Desaan is a big lizard that is really mean and has a dark voice. I really hated him

Do you have the DVD of CD version of the game? You need bf2_modtools.exe from the mod tools.

Then you can catch me on XFire (zerted) on how to get one, or you can just ignore it. There aren't any planned updates to the pack anyway.

The UnOfficial v1.3 patch r103 is out. It should fix the missing localizations/strings problem for the non-English versions of the game and most of the installation problems too (it also has a few more features). I downloaded the lite version which didn't fix the international string error thing.

Try manually replacing the your v1.3patch_strings.lvl with the new one you downloaded in the patch. If that doesn't work, I don't have a clue why the strings aren't being displayed...
