Windows 7 Crash - DirectX Related?

Post by jedimoose32 »

Hello everyone.

I got Windows 7 a little while ago, and never really played Battlefront II since then. Recently I reinstalled it and updated to 1.3 Unofficial. I tried to play a few mod maps, and I would press the Launch button from the map screen and then it would crash the game. It wouldn't even start loading. Just one second of black screen and then it cut to the desktop. I have tried reinstalling and playing on all of the different updates, and even playing the shipped levels crashes it.

A piece of info which might be helpful is this: When I run Battlefront II from the launcher or the Start Menu it tells me I have to update my DirectX, and gives me the old DX9 installer. This is a problem, as I have DirectX 11. Then when the DX9 installer quits it won't let me run BF2. I have been running it in Safe Mode because otherwise it won't open. HELP!!!!

Thanks.

It's not like I didn't search, I just must've used the wrong keywords :runaway: .

Mods can lock this/delete it or whatever.

EDIT: Never mind. It seems that the solution mentioned in the topic that you posted is no good. I went into the sound settings and there is no device that allows BF2 to work when it is disabled.

EDIT: Never mind again. It seems that my RealTek drivers were improperly installed so I reinstalled them and everything works okay now. Thanks Gametoasters!
