elfie wrote:Just so everyone is clear on two things relating to skinning:
1. I have heard people saying that skinning requires a custom side and that is not true. You do not need to make a custom side, even though it may be more helpful for some and others it causes their map to crash for some reason.
2. If you do not chose to make a custom side and are editing a stock side, please for our sake remove the lines of units/vehicles you are not using.
I just thought I mention this before someone ask it.
"Skinning" only requires a texture and an image editor, but if you want to see your edited texture ingame then you
will have to create a custom side (this applies to whatever you have loading from a side in the LUA).
Editing a stock side automatically makes it a custom side because you're incorporating an edited texture that wasn't included in the shipped game. The only way to get that side in your map other than replacing the stock side is to call it with "dc:" in the LUA, thus a custom side.
Hope this helps

Oh, yes that is what you mean! I was reffering to the custom side that you have to make from scratch like the one in the tutorial by Caleb. Also, sorry for almost bumping my own topic

Try making a new topic and not bumping a topic a year old. You saved your reskin with RLE on.

There are no grey and black "chessboard" squared needed, that only shows where the texture is transparent.

oh... thanks, now it works.
i have seen characters getting skinned so the look really good.
the problem is, that when i paint them, only small parts of the character gets painted! (excample: paint the umm... "window" of the clone helmet and only a little part/half get's painted.
and, the colors. i cant get the right colors.
just see the clone troopers on coruscant in bfx mod (red over almost every part)!
i tried all combinations for red, it still didnt work to get the color.
help?
