They may have a low poly count, but they tend to have *many* other problems, especially issues with normals and edges. That's why Eden Prime used to be so freakin' buggy: virtually all of the models were modeled with SketchUp. Also, as GAB said before, his palm tree models are pretty high-poly, so. :P

Yeeaahhh... though it is easy to use, Sketchup models are really buggy...

Do you guys know of any other modeling programs? I tried XSI, but it was a little too complicated.

Off-topic: What was complicated about it? :o Also, Blender is a great alternative.

I just felt very confused, and the documentation made it worse. Part of it may have been the view, as well as the overwhelming things in the Explorer. I just don't know where to start. I may look at blender, too.

If I get really bored of it and decide not to work on it anymore, then maybe? :P

It's just hard waiting on a map you have been wanting for a long time :D

Glad you're looking forward to this one. But don't expect a flawless graphical performance from the game's end. I may be able to attenuate the graphical issues I'm currently having, but I very much doubt I'll be able to totally get rid of them, which is a huge bummer to be honest. :(

Patience is an awesome virtue. Learning to mod myself, ive come to see how long it can take to do something by yourself.

@GAB, I look forward for the finished product. Take as long as you need man.

I understand. When I made maps in Unity, it took about 3 months to get 1 map to look like a real place. I totally get it

Dude this looks seriously fantastic. I kid you not when I say I've been enjoying Alzoc 3 with my buddies over the past two years each time we play some BF2, so another map by the same person who made that one is just great news all around.

The variants look pretty amazing. I seem to remember variants being worked on for another map as well...now which map was that?

OK, after a few days of working, fiddling with matrices, trying to figure out what a quaternion is (and failing), moving collision primitives and doing some other stuff I present you the discotheque.
Hidden/Spoiler:

The discotheque is meant to be the main landmark of this map. In the dawn and rain variants it only plays some calm music. Then, in the dusk variant, I wanted to make it look like a party is being prepared. The lights are turned on and a more appropriate music is played but nothing fancy is going on. Then, when the night comes, the lights wll flash, the movingheads on the sides of the "dancefloor" are activated and a party music plays.

And these are some of the additions for now. Please, leave your suggestions and let me know what you think.

Wow, that looks really nice! The lighting is quite cool, and that is an excellent use of a stock asset. Once again, well done!

I love how you set up the lights that intersect with one another. Good job!

That's awesome! Reminds me a lot of Max Payne 3. May I ask what music you're using? :o Also, mind if I run it through Audacity and make it sound all club-y? :) (Mostly add a slight reverb effect and equalize it to sound like a club track - just so it sounds a little more real.)
