Trying to model something

Post by Darth-Derkie »

A while back, a big while back I started working on Mos Espa. I'm thinking of doing it again (I lost my old models :( ). I have forgotten how everything works, so I'm trying to re-learn everything.

This is my old Mos Espa thread: http://www.gametoast.com/index.php?name ... sc&start=0

This is what I have made now:

I'm trying to get it to look like this: Image
I'm trying to copy everything over from that (crappy) Phantom Menace level to a SWBFII map.

I wasn't sure what this thread was about for a few minutes, LoL. Well, for a start the texture looks horribly stretched, and if you're trying to copy the building in the bottom picture the texture is way too dark.

your main problem is that you "model" everything from boxes and put them together. Stick to one box and then modify it to make such a building. Make it with one single mesh. Props like pipes and that awning not included..

Phantom Menace = Crappy? What? I LOVE that game so much. I think it's better than *SWBF II...

Well I cant speak for the game itself but from that screen shot i can tell that the graphics are way crappy. When you start trying to model something based off of something else you really want to have a good picture or screenie to consult to.

Other than that, if you like id be willing to give some pointers for how to make this thing look great. Rite now I agree with doofi in that it just looks like a buncha boxes slapped together.

I'd like to get some help. I can't remember how to do things I did with my old model. :( It's annoying.

This is my old model: (deleted :( )

hmm very cool and if the game IS 7 years old then I prolly wouldnt use it to base my model off of anyways.

Anyways ill try to be constructive here, the pillar at the corner of the building is either wayy too fat at the bottom or skinny at the top. A way to fix this would be to select the object, press m, select the top face of the corner pillar thiing, and then go over to the side under transform, in the area where you can enter where to scale it, enter 1.5 for X and Y that should make the pillar a bit less skinny at the top and look a little more like the pic :D (Yes I know thats pretty basic stuff but if you really cant remember how to do that stuff then I thought it might help :D)
