Island

Island is my latest map. its a somewhat simple map, built to be simple with simple game modes and simple gameplay. At least that is my sense of the map. But simple can be good, right? Anyways, this is what i've been working on recently. i was kind of bored so i started this as a little fun project. Island was not meant to be a seriously awesome map, and neither was it intended to be better than my previous map: Lost Valley. But it was intended to be utterly; stunningly visually beautiful. Personally i dislike the word beautiful, but that is the one word i would pick to describe this map. I hope you, the downloaders, think this map is beautiful too.

There are two game modes: GCW conquest and CW conquest. CW conquest is a simple campaign mode where the objectives are to locate some crashed ship called the Destroyer II while fending off against gamorrean inhabitants. Its not a hard mission and the objectives are relatively simple. theres a flash speeder just in case the player finds the mission too hard and needs some extra fire power.

GCW conquest is just regular conquest, but the rebels have been replaced with naboo guards who have been renamed the Royal Guards. The Royal Guards of what? I'm not entirely sure, but at least it's better than Naboo Guards. Some of the 'Royal Guards' have different weapons than normal. This was done to help balance the gameplay.

I recommend turning your settings to the highest quality possible as it adds to the visual appeal. except for light bloom, that doesnt help at all(at least for me it doesnt).

Whoaw, the map looks pretty neat dude. Are there any custom clone legions? That always sparks my interest more.

If not, then I got an idea, like I said for your previous map, this would be a great place to put in the 327th legion.

EDIT:
Whenever I try playing the CW it crashes on me immediately.

@Jedimaster: it's a very nice looking map....could do with foliage though (eg pebbles, grasss, shrubs).
Also palm trees would be good.

Also....you're still bragging (not as much as ya used too :) ). The map isn't beautiful..it's visually good, but with things like obvious texture lines (they look sloppy), lack of small details and not much lighting wise it isn't stunning.

Yes, i did push it a little with the "beautiful" thing. However, this map was pretty much only meant to be "visually good". I got the idea for this map but it wasn't meant to be much except a nice looking environment. The actual forest part isnt very visually stunning, but looking at the beach, water, and sky together looks nice(it looks best in freecam). The waterfall part with the pool below looks nice as well(and if one looks closely at the source of the waterfall, the water is flowing from the mouth of a gunganhead rock thing).

This map looks really good and definitely worth submitting to SWBF Files from the looks of it but I haven't actually played it yet.

Ok, I don't know if it's just my computer, but the map makes my game crash every time I try to play it. It works fine until I spawn, then it crashes. Might want to fix that bug if you're going to release it to SWBF Files.

For me CW and GCW Modes crash also.I cant spawn.Crashes for me direct after the Loadscreen.

I downloaded and played it and didn't have any problems. You guys might have another mod interfering with something. I have BFX, SWBF2 Conversion Pack, SWBF2 V 1.3 Patch, and a dozen addon maps so I don't know. Anyway I liked it and the objectives wern't too hard my only problem was I was only getting an average of 16 FPS and that made it a little hard to play but than again that can't be helped.

I have BFX, Convo Pack 2.1, and v1.3, so it can't be an interfering mod. I also have roughly the same amount of addon maps, so it might have something to do with the settings.

My SWBF-2 Version runs well,Delta.
Actually i only have Convopack 2.1 and Patch 1.3 and only 6 Maps in my Addon and no Mods like BFX or BFP.
All Maps are working besides of this One.
To test againi re-dl`d this Map and set all Graphic Settings to Low.It chrashes in ClassesScreen.

Could be a Version Problem.I use International DVD Version (German)

Maybe its an addon map that's causing the crash. Try moving all of the maps out and make sure you have the original lvl files in the main directory just to be safe. Could be a bad file you have too.

Mate,you forgot that i play this Game since Releasedate.So im sure its in best Condition.I would notice any Issues.Trust me.
Six Maps in my Addon are running well without any Problems,why shoud my Game have any Problems if ONLY this Map isnt running.Newset Virmund Map runs well.

But i followed your advise. Only BF1 Folder and ISL are in and Boom after pressing -Spawn Button- CDT. :wink:

There must be another Problem with Locals or something.I dunno

The only reason I suggested that was because I had the exact same problem a while back with the Geonosis: Arena map. Every time I played the map I got a CTD and come to find out it was another addon map that was causing the problem and the oddest possible reason too.

Good map. Especially like the layout (something I always have difficulty with).

@ everyone with crashes:
Caused by water. Big map, lots of water, lots of water under land = crash alot.

@Jedimaster: I've had to remove most of the water to fix that issue. Surrounded by forested hills and cliffs instead of sea (with some nice lakes though). Sorry, I woulda preffered sea too.

Why not have real water for a bit on the edges, then make an object that looks like the sea, with an animated texture? If it was far enough, then you wouldn't be able to tell the difference...in theory...
