My Xbox 360 Just Got the Red Ring of Death

So, my Xbox decided to die today (more than likely due to my sister abusing it). How convenient. It's so old, that the 3 year warranty expired. I already have Halo: Reach legendary edition pre-ordered to arrive on the day it comes out (in 7 days). I have put the most prominent options into the poll.

The first option is the cheapest, but most painful on my soul.

The second option is nice, but what am I supposed to do with two practically lifeless Xboxs?

The third option is fine, but I would end up getting a new HD which would be adding on the costs.

The 4th option is fine, but now I'm broke for the next month or two.

The last option is what I want, but I would be broke for the rest of the year (maybe longer). I would have two Xboxs, two Halo: Reach copies, and 6 controllers. LAN party anyone?

Anyway, I need advice, and fast.

Get it fixed and wait. Reach will still be around a few weeks later. If you can't wait for it then you'd better well admit your addiction to games.

Send it in, do not attempt to fix it yourself. Whether or not you want to get another 360 is up to you.

However, you might want to try something else. You know the "Black Box" the plugs into the wall? See if that's dusty, dust it, then try turning the Xbox on. Sometimes the 360 will show the red rings if that gets dusty, happened to one of my friends.

I wouldn't bother getting the new Slim and paying a fortune. So I'd say send it in and fix it. Why is there a poll for this, its your choice, I don't wanna make the wrong choice for ya.

Good grief, no kidding. If you're thinking about buying a new console to play a game on release day, you best check yo'self before you wreck yo'self.

ummmm...ok?

Anyhoo, i think you should sell it on ebay for spare parts. That way you could scrape a penny or two. Next, you could just borrow your friend's x-box or something.

The better option that I would take though is to just buy a new one. Fixing is just a waste of time (It might happen again for all you know) so yeah. Hope I helped :o

Microsoft takes care of red rings for free. Or at least they did. Dunno if they still do. Therefore the cost to fix is 0.00 USD.

I'm pretty sure the red ring fix is only free for three years, then it becomes a $100 deal.

Also, if he wants to get a new console on a release day that's his choice. Some of my best memories of games were on their launch day and week, and I would hate to think about not being able to be there during the early days. It's not an addiction, it's just a different way to have fun.

I mean, really, he's probably going to have to go get a new console anyway, why not time it with something he may actually need it for?

Yeah, I'll prob just get the 250 gig HD slim since that will last me a while.

The funny thing is my Xbox is like 3.5 years old, yet they are still fixing it for free.

Go with the cheapest option. Send in broken Xbox for repairs.
