There was an updated version of Zeroedit which fixes some bugs but it doesn't add anything new. See this thread (linked to from the sticky How To thread, strangely enough):

ZeroEdit may have a bit of a learning curve, but once you get it, you really can't find an easier editor.

Sorry, but I don't think so...
Valve Hammer Editor or
WorldCraft are rather good counterexamples...

There are updates for Zeroeditor on Psych0fred's site in the downloads section.
"Wednesday, January 05, 2005 9:17 PM-
-1168588 ZeroeditorUpdate010505.zip"
Download that one, its the newest.

In fact, you meant "
compare what can be compared"...
On the other hand, I guess that members who would try both the two mapping / modelling programs I've mentioned would consider them as rather easy to use...

That's what I thought, so any mod tools may just be an update / upgrade of the already existing zeroeditor. As many of the maps are very heavily object based a lot of stuff would need XSI, meaning that it'll be really difficult for non XSIers to produce anything new. Do we know if all the animated surfaces (like comp screens, lava flows etc...) are all applied to objects and not to a terrain variable in the new zeroeditor?
