XSI/Modeling tips

I'm just wondering if there's anywhere in particular any tips/tricks for XSI should go. VF501 had a great skinning tip on the showcase thread, but there's no real place to put tips like that. So unless the mods nix it, I guess I'll start one here and see what happens.

MY TIP: Download Google Sketchup. It can't export usable models unless you pay for the upgrade, but it has a system that lets users upload their models for others to dl directly into scenes, and they make for great reference pics when making your own.

i used to look for tuts like crazy when i first started but its all about just going for it and not settling for anything less. just stick with XSI and ditch sketchup since XSI is the program of choice for the people who created the game.

I don't use it for modeling, But it makes references easy to find, especially when making modern weapons.
