What is your Favorite Unit?
wow, i haven't made a good topic in awhile...
My question is what is your special unit and why?
Clone Commander,
Jet Trooper,
Magna Guard,
Driodeka,
Bothan Spy,
Wookiee Warrior,
Imperial Officer,
Dark Trooper.
My favorite unit would have to be the Dark Trooper for the reason that his jet is the fastest and his shock attack stuns the enemies for a moment allowing you to attack again and win. the grenades are good against turrets and the pistol is pretty good for counter sniping when the arccaster is out of range. i have taken down wookiees with dark troopers, won games with them. this is why i like dark troopers.
My question is what is your favorite regular unit and why
Trooper,
Rocketeer,
Sniper,
Engineer.
My favorite unit would be the sniper, with the sniper i can, err, snipe from long range and defeat enemies and the gun is good enough for u to fend off enemies who get too close, the auto turret can also work as a distractor and ally. the pistol and grenade help alot when people get too close or when you need to reload and the enemy has just alittle health left.
Now whats yours?

Re: What is your favorite regular unit?
Disclaimer: I pretty much only play SP, and rarely stock sides, so if stuff I say makes absolutely no sense, this is why.
Trooper, usually he's enough to counter any enemy at any range. All the rest are less effective vs. infantry in general, or they are points to unlock and slightly specialized and so less effective against everything else to bring more focus to anti infantry.

Re: What is your favorite regular unit?
Trooper, specifically the Rebel Rifleman. I am a grunt with a rifle, and I know how to use it.
Least favorite would be Engineer. Between the shotgun, detpacks, and health/ammo packs the unit is way overpowered, takes the fun out of it. Thus is my BF3 mod, I nerfed the engineer to be more like the other units.

Re: What is your favorite regular unit?
trooper is a pretty good choice. i used them before and they are good againt medium range targets the best, close enough to hit a sniper and far enough away for a shotgun not to hit you. the 4 grenades are also pretty nice. the only problem is if you have a tank running after you and only those 4 grenades...
[noooo, ninja'd for the second time today]
after reading wulf's post i must also point out that the trooper's guns are actually different
Clone: has a gun weaker and yet more rapid fire (maybe faster or more ammo can't remember)
Driod: has a gun that has higher damage but is either slower or has less ammo
Rebel: has more ammo but has a slower firing gun (split seconds)
Empire: Has one less clip than rebels but has a faster firing gun (once again split seconds).

Re: What is your favorite regular unit?
Technically only the Dark Trooper, Jet Trooper, Wookie Warrior, and Droideka are Special units. The others are Officers.
Anyway am not a fan of any special unit. Most are overpowered and ruin the fun of the game to me, specifically the Dark Trooper and Jet Trooper. The Droideka isn't all that effective without teammates, it works better as a support unit to take cover behind. Wookie Warrior is good but too slow for my tastes.
Favorite officer would be the Imperial Officer for GCW and Magnagaurd in CW.

Yeah, nothing like a rocketeer to take out vehicles. Rocketeer would be my second favorite, as they can be pretty effective against infantry if you know how to use them.Dakota wrote:trooper is a pretty good choice. i used them before and they are good againt medium range targets the best, close enough to hit a sniper and far enough away for a shotgun not to hit you. the 4 grenades are also pretty nice. the only problem is if you have a tank running after you and only those 4 grenades...

Re: What is your favorite regular unit?
Counter disclaimer, for if you saw my other disclaimer and think it still applies here. It doesn't. My custom units are so vastly different (except for the deka) that I will be using my MP experiences here. For various reasons I dislike the arcaster, bowcaster, sonic pistol, Magnaguard, EMP Launcher. All that's left are the Clone Commander, Bothan Spy and Droideka. I think the Bothan Spy is a pretty fun one to mess around with sometimes, but I never put hopes of winning a match just on using him. CC's and Dekas are my favorites I guess.
Yes, they are different, but I'm pretty sure the Rebel and Clones are identical, the SBD Wrist Blaster is definitely slower and stronger, but idk about the Droid Marine's rifle, my guess is like the clone and rebel rifle, and the E-11 is faster and weaker. I am unaware of difference in clip size.Dakota wrote:trooper is a pretty good choice. i used them before and they are good againt medium range targets the best, close enough to hit a sniper and far enough away for a shotgun not to hit you. the 4 grenades are also pretty nice. the only problem is if you have a tank running after you and only those 4 grenades...

bothan is fun (even more fun in a mod i made, hehehe) nice to just run up to a sniper while stealth and sit a time bomb there...kinetosimpetus wrote:Counter disclaimer, for if you saw my other disclaimer and think it still applies here. wonders why not many people change up the weapons of a driodeka from blaster and shield into two other weapons, like rocket launcher and heavy blaster, and maybe make the unit have an auto shield on and possibly be 3 times the size, and if someone wanted it to be pretty, there is probably someway to play an effect on something when it has a shield on, aka bubble shield

I rather like the engineer, or any unit that is best suited for driving vehicles around.
Out of curiosity, why do you have two threads when both could really fit into one?

clip sizes were the same but rebels have 6 and emps have 5, i forgot to think about the driod marine's rifle also.kinetosimpetus wrote:Yes, they are different, but I'm pretty sure the Rebel and Clones are identical, the SBD Wrist Blaster is definitely slower and stronger, but idk about the Droid Marine's rifle, my guess is like the clone and rebel rifle, and the E-11 is faster and weaker. i made two so that i could have it separated and have both with a poll since only 10 options fit per poll.Fiodis wrote:I rather like the engineer, or any unit that is best suited for driving vehicles around.

Re: What is your favorite regular unit?
I agree. The trooper just fits for just about anything. Sure, he's not good at anything in particular, but on the other hand, he's not bad at anything either.kinetosimpetus wrote:Disclaimer: I pretty much only play SP, and rarely stock sides, so if stuff I say makes absolutely no sense, this is why.

I love the rocketeer because of the mines rockets (duh) and I have the award pistol so that really helps him out.

Yeah, If I'm not playing something that removes award weaps, I do like the rocketeer more.

Re: What is your favorite regular unit?
I like to pretend I'm a good sniper, but I guess my best and favorite unit is rocketeer. I'm always at home with the heavy weapons guy in any game. I was an awesome gunner in Battlefield: Heroes, I like to think I'm an ok Heavy in TF2, and while it's not easy to be a good rocketeer in SWBF2, I thought I fared fairly well. I guess thats just because I can deal the most damage without having to worry about aim. I'm just about packing the most punch per hit.

My favorite unit is the trooper. It's the most balanced unit.
I hate the snipers and engineers in Battlefront, because they are overpowered...
I rarely use the rocketeer, except for spamming mines. His launcher and pistol are too weak to be effective.

Engineers? Yes, very, as I said before. Snipers however are not overpowered. They have less health than almost all the units, and they are horrid vs tanks.

Aaah. Thanks for that. I always thought the terms were interchangeable.
