yes it is the same as a null, but name it something like hp_blablabla so in the odf youll refer to it as hp_blablabla

I have a question along those lines. Is adding multiple firepoints for a troop weapon as simple as adding another null called hp_fire1 and adding

firepoint = "hp_fire1"

to the .odf under the first firepoint?

I believe one weapon can have multiple hardpoints, but can't "cycle" through them. For example, if I modeled a chaingun with hp's 1-6, it would only fire through hp_1.

That's true. You can make a new weapon odf, with the same mesh but another firepoint called in it, then it will look like it's 1 weapon. I did the same for a weapon of my. 3 hardpoints. The first weapon was a Semi-Auto shot, the second rifle, and the third, which was secondary weapon, was a grenade launcher. All fired from different positions. I named them in localisations like 'Grenade Attachment' or 'Semi-Auto'. I made semi auto and rifle share ammo, from that tut in the FAQ.

You might as well add hardpoints in the unit model, and use the droideka weapon lines to make them cycle though..
