Mygeeto: Frozen Wastes

Progress: 60%

As for the Storyline...

Clone Wars:
On Mygeeto, Republic Forces have discovered the CIS have set up a energy mine, collecting raw forms of power for their battle droids, and robbing needed energy from the innocent people of the world. To combat this, the Republic are sending down their FrostCorps Unit to deal with the Separatist threats.

Heroes: Ki-Adi Mundi and General Grievous (Selectable from Character-Select screen)

Galactic Civil War:
The Rebels have discovered the old CIS energy mine and are using it as a base. The Empire has been sent in to wipe them off the planet.

Heroes: Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader (Selectable from Character-Select screen)

Assault Mode:
Years before the Battle of the Energy Mine, Old Republic Forces are locked in an epic struggle with the Sith Empire. Utilizing advanced Kaminoan armor, both sides are sent down to battle in a narrow canyon on the planet's surface.

Has:
*Full Terrain and working modes for all sides.
*Eight command posts for Conquest mode.
*Jedi vs. Sith (assault) mode.
*Custom FrostCorps skins for the Republic side (vehicles and soldiers) I was going to edit all sides but that would make the map too freaking huge on the filesize :o
*Lighting, snow effects and structures.
*Planning for both Conquest and Assault mode so the AI is not THAT stupid.

Needs:
*More vehicles for all sides.
*Better Planning.
*Can't get Mygeeto's fire effects to work, and I desperately need to :(
*More Balancing for the Jedi vs. Sith mode.

Will Add:
*Wampas as a local side.
*More buildings to use as cover.
*Heath and Ammo droids at every CP.

"The air above the canyon is far below freezing." Shoot, I guess we're all dead then - are you aware that cold air sinks? :wink:

Anyway, the map looks very open. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but most times it is. The skins are all right, though parts of them look suspiciously like plain inverted colors. The brownish haze towards the bottom of the skydome doesn't really fit with the overall map scheme, the canyon walls are somewhat unreasonably steep, and the ground there seems a bit too saturated to me. Lastly, most game modes where the best advice the modder can give is "don't get swarmed" tend to be very bland gameplay-wise.

But maybe that's just me. :P

I mean it's like a blizzard going through the air while the canyon is protecte- it's a thing I did to keep the battle in the canyon :p (This is from someone who lives in a valley [me], the wind blowing over the top of the hills is colder than the area at the bottom)

There were no inverted colors, I took them and used the color tool to make them grayscale, then the levels tool to make them lighter, then the color tool again to add the blue.

The brown is supposed to be orange, it's the atmospheric filter that turns the sky orange as the sun sets.

The saturated color is ice, it's a frozen river. The canyon walls are steep to create a difference between the Conquest and Assault modes.

Seriously, at the moment with dozens of Jedi and Sith attacking each other at once, "Don't get swarmed" is the best advice I can give you.

Regardless of however the brown/orange is explained meteorlogically, imo it doesn't fit well visually.
If the saturated color is a frozen river, it'd look a lot slicker visually if you used an actual ice texture rather than ZE's color tool, and maybe lined up some reskinned Tatooine rocks on either side to give the effect of riverbanks (maybe a few in the middle to give the impression of a past avalanche).
Maybe it'd be a good idea gameplay-wise to rework the Jedi vs. Sith mode so that there aren't dozens of melee-users swarming each other, but I suppose that'll be for the beta testers (and, ultimately, you) to decide.

Looks like a great map, Advent. I'm loving the skins. Might I add that the map could use a bit more of covering for the troops? It looks a little bare to me.

Nice idea the GCCD! Anyway I would change the arc/jedi skin while the arc/sith is very cool. :thumbs:

I kinda agree on that one, the sith is great, but the jedi is...naah...

It's the normal arc skin and it just does not fit with the Old Republic era even for a kaminoan armor, a little reskin would be nice, imo. :)

btw, I agree on the red sabers for the GCCD's lightsabers.

instead of the building structures, i would suggest putting in giant ice crystals and such in the valley.
Since Mygeeto was locked in an ice age, giant crystallized glaciation and ice covered its surface, as well as huge crystal spurs. Because of this, Mygeeto means "gem" in the ancient trade language of the Muuns.Mygeeto's internal fires long since cooled and had left a colossal deposit of precious stones within its crust and mantle. The immense assets of nova crystals and fields of lasing crystals made Mygeeto one of the wealthiest worlds in the galaxy. It also hosted artesian crystals and relacite. The planet's ice shelves were also home to huge deadly worms. Also, the planet itself was enveloped by an asteroid field.

the blue looks great for the clones but for general Grievous??

2: i think for the starfighters are transparent parts in the tga you only have to add some ice at the borders. for HUD i don't know too

Please don't tell me those buildings are all rotated the same way. Please also don't tell me those are all mostly myg1_bldg_med_spiral.msh.

@adventfear: Here some suggestions.

-You should add Caleb1117's crystal props.
-Maybe add a frozen cave in the rock? Reskinned Dagobah cave like in Jendo7's Hoth map or at least the Rhen Var ice caverns.
-Add tunnels?
-Reskin some Raxus props and put them in the map
-What about crevass with deathzone?
