I am looking for a way to start a dedicated server using the retail version of the game but using a game port other than the default 3658. Is there a command line switch that would assign a game port of my choosing i.e. 3560?
Again, this is for using the retail version of the game to host a dedicated server, not for using the free download version of the dedicated server software.

My first question, I guess, would be, "Is there a reason you're using the retail game version instead of the Dedicated Server Software?"
As for what you're trying to do, I'm not sure. Looking at my logs from the ded server software, it says "User admin at server changed /gameport from 3658 to 3888" when I changed it. So maybe /admin /gameport XXXX will work if you're logged in as an admin ingame. That might just be a custom command for the ded server program, though.
If it does work, then you might have to restart your server (and not just shut down and manually start it again, cuz that might reset the port). I think there's an admin command for that. It's not /admin /restart, that just restarts the current map. But I can't find my "official" list of admin commands anymore, you'll have to search for that one.

I'm testing dedicated servers on OpenSpy. I'm not having any luck with the free download dedicated server software. I am however having better luck with the retail version run as a dedicated server. I currently run more than one server from the same IP so I need to assign additional game ports.Twilight_Warrior wrote:My first question, I guess, would be, "Is there a reason you're using the retail game version instead of the Dedicated Server Software?"

I don't believe getting involved with Openspy wiill be necessary. A group in the community is making a patch that will completely restore online function to the game. It will be connecting to a master server that's much more reliable than Openspy, Tunngle, Gameranger, etc.

This thread has the most information about it: http://swgohome.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6176Marth8880 wrote:[citation needed] (or rather, link requested lol)
Eyes Only is leading the project. They've already patched and tested the game exe, so that's done. Right now they're putting the master server together. They don't plan on releasing the patch until after Gamespy shuts down, which is a stupid idea in my opinion. I think this should be publicized as much as possible before the servers shut down.
Unfortunately, it's become obvious that the majority of the community is utterly misinformed on the whole issue. Every time I'm playing online, I come across at least a few people that are adamant that Xfire or Steam or SWGO will "fix the Battlefront 2 servers!!" Then there are some of people who think that it will be completely impossible to play Battlefront II online anymore, and we can't do anything to fix it. Then there are the people who think, "oh gamespy is just that login thing that I skip past every time I click on the multiplayer tab, I don't even use that so I'm fine."
If we don't increase awareness of the real situation and solution(s), we're not gonna have much of a population to reach out to with this patch^ or others, let alone a community afterwards that will have actually downloaded them.
