HI,
I'm new to modding, and I would like to know how to make your own weapons.

well first you need XSI if you want to make a new gun or model next you need to make a weap .odf and ord .odf for your weapon. Finally you need to make a custom side. Now if you don't get a word i just said i think you should start small making your own weapon and editing .odfs is pretty advanced. But, that's just my opinion and so I wwon't go into detail what each step means.

yeah I just gave it to you and XSI is a model editing program and as I said before you should not start out with editing weapons

Go to
http://softimage.com then go to the downloads section and under software for personal use look for XSI|Mod Tools 4.2 This is the free version and is quite good to start with.
To export into .msh format, you'll need the full version and the pandemic addon that came with the modtools. 3D exporter a third party program also works. If you cant afford either, provide you textures and ask someone to export for you.

are you asking how to make new MODELS or how to make new things the weapons do?
for example, if you wanted to make a flame thrower you wouldn't need XSI at all, just a lot of creativity and figuring stuff out.
