Great model, the imported cockpit does look better and the proton tubes are much better then before. I'd try to fix a few of the warped UVs on the wings though, but that's mostly my own 3D OCD talking

I agree the body does need something hmm... I know! a hatch for the pilots to climb into. But this lands like the droid starfighter so that would be impractical/useless. Let me think... I've got it! A fireball emitter! You know like when fighter pilots are being tracked by heat seeking missles they shoot out flares to try and get missles to stop tracking them. It would probably look like a triangle. My only other ideas were, a vent, another Imp logo, a rotating turret, or a hood ornament.

For those of you who think this was totally random...
...it was part of a random X-Fire conversation relating to the TIE
@Fluffy - 3502, but I forgot to cut out a few that are hidden.

Sorry that first picture threw me off.
But this has evolved since then; btw the vents are awesome!(but there is still enough room for a Jaguar!)

0.o How does that look like a droid starfighter? A droid starfighter lands with its wings underneath it, not above it.

he meant the general wingsarrangement i think

it is similar, but a little different, and they rotate up instead of down

Yep, just looks like a Vulture droid to me. If they rotated down it would look like a droid starfighter, it they rotated up it would look like a droid starfighter. Either way it's not a bad thing, thats just the way I see it.
I really like the model, and I want to see it in action, you know putting down the Rebelion and such.

small, progress update, if anyone is interested...
fixed some alignment problems, re-enveloped, adjusted a couple UV's, and if there are no further suggestions/comments, I'm basically ready to export.

The texture on the main body looks really bad, you should completely redo it from scratch, piecing together the games base textures together never looks good. The model also has a lot of unnecessary vertex's and edges that can be easily removed without losing any detail. You also really need to learn how to use the mark hard edge tool to give certain areas the rigid look a spaceship has since parts of the rear look like they're molded with clay.

do hard edges work in battlefront?

if you mean the images of the wire frames recently quoted, those are old, most of those polies are gone now.

no idea what that is

if the polys beside an edge are in a cretain angle to eachother (somewhere over 90 degrees) the edges is rendered smooth, not as hard as it actually it, if you select edges, right click and select "mark hard edges" the edges are rendered hard (is this understandibly explained?)
i didnt know this works in battlefront

Yep, have a look at the dark blue edges on the unit_template_beta.
Marking an edge as "hard" changes the angle of the normals(there's that word again), here's an example:
No hard edge(normals are averaged)
Edge marked as "hard"(normals are perpendicular to adjoining polygons giving a faceted look or sharp edge)

Since it's changing the normals and not adding some sort of tag, it should work through Rep's exporter, right?
