OOh!!! I know!!! Can I get a cookie!!!
I loved that video it was so funny :funny2: Back on topic:
I would like to see a more cooperative type mode for online play... like AQT's republic commando extraction mod. That was neat because I played it online and I actually could win with some buddys against tons of bots. With regular BF2 you can only fight each other.

As for a good story, I really don't need a good story to play a game.
Look at TFU, so much story, cinematics, and controlled sterile gameplay that the game bored me. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying I have anything against a good story but when a game goes from a game to a interactive movie then it just makes me lose interest. I actually like the stock campaign because it was to the point and got me right in the action. I'm not attacking you or anything and please don't anyone take this personally but that's just my opinion. :P

Got 2 more ideas:

Insignias and Armor Modification - Of course, armor strength and etc. would remain the same, but you could put like, colored markings on your helmet/chestplate to give yourself a unique character. Also, you could give yourself a pre-made or custom-made insignia to put somewhere on your armor. Of course, there would need to be some way for the insignias to be approved, in order to keep out things such as swastikas and badly drawn pictures. A text-only insignia would be good too, for clan tags and such.

Server Banners - Similar to the server banners on Battlefield and the home pages on TF2, a custom-made banner could be made for the server and show up on the server list.

So what you're all basically saying is you want SWBF3, not SWBF2 remade. With the changes most of you are asking for it wouldn't be SWBF2 anymore as regardless of the developer Lucasarts would feel it's too different to be some sort of HD remake and would just make an all new title.

Personally I would only want the combined features of SWBF1 and 2. IE bring back the SWBF1 maps (already done) as well as prone, flyer strafing and advanced squad commands. I don't need anything else as it'd be beyond any remotely realistic scope of what could have been done with the time and budget they were given to make the game. Part of what makes SWBF2 great is the fact that it doesn't have feature creep. The devs knew to make a solid game rather than one with all sorts of extras and features like customization, ragdoll, a cover system, a better level editor, etc.

You have ZERO idea what you're talking about. Two years is nowhere near enough time to revamp the engine AND update all of the assets for the game. Besides, they didn't get that much time to make the game. I've worked for 3 years as an application developer and I can tell you that you're way off on what you think gets done in that time.

This.

Apart from what have been said already, some things I would like to see are better (more realistic) anims, a better HUD, and a new first person sprint anim (not just the walk anim with higher speed) plus rhe ability to aim down sights in fp.

And most important: Mod Tools!
^Ditto^

Offtopic: What would be amazing is this: Crytek UK unveiling "Big Surprise" at E3
I know that it might as well be Crysis 3 or Timesplitters or something of that sort.
But there is a chance, since they were formally Free Radical, that this could be the announcement of Battlefront 3!
(I know that there isn't much chance, but it still is a chance, right?)
And imagine if they are, imagine Crytek UK making the game and the graphics of Battlefront 3?
And then there is this: LucasArts Nabs Tim Longo for Unannounced Star Wars game
For just the sake of saying it: Tim Longo worked with LucasArts as creative director for Star Wars: Republic Commando, and now he's creative director again for LucasArts for an unannounced Star Wars video game.

I don't know if I'm trying to grasp thin air, but it's a hope that I have that they'll release this game.
Thanks to the Battlefront3 website for this info.

I even mentioned what this thread really was, but, I was ignored.

And tean is very right. They didn't take two years to make bf2, I don't even think it was a full year before they released BF2 after BF1. They rushed because they new they could make the moo-la since BF1 had broken the sales record of any SW game at the time, BF2 broke the record again as they hoped.

Ok, I can believe you that your friend said that, but there are usually rules in companies that if there is a project, such as a new unannounced video game, the people working on it can't tell anyone about it until it has been announced to be in the making.
I can believe you that he said that, but even though he said that and he works at LucasArts, doesn't mean that what he said was correct (sometimes they keep it so that only the people working on it would know.)

He also said that it wasn't in production in February, but this was found out a couple of days ago, so things could have changed from then since you haven't been able to communicate with him.

But, as I said before, I could just be grasping thin air, I might be right, but I could very well be wrong.

I don't mean any offence to you or your friend, these are just my thoughts.

Big games are in production for over a year before they're ever announced, just so you know. It's not like all these newbie modders who say "I'm making this uber-epic mod! It'll have 50 maps and 20 classes and it can cook dinner for you!" Nope, just like the veteran modders the industry knows you don't announce something until there's something to show.

I understad that, but he might have not known at that time that they were doing something like that. Or they even didn't tell him at all, and maybe still haven't. We might never know.

You're right Tean. Let's try not to get our ideas too terribly over our heads. It's supposed to be a remake of BF2/BF2 with a longer deadline, not BF3.

Are you REALLY sure you want another Halo/Battlefield/Gears of War/Call of Duty-Style Game? i think the Class-Based system is more fun when it comes to online play, it allows for MUCH better teamwork.

Better AI - Of Course!

Better Graphics? no, when games look Very Realistic there's less chance to enjoy the graphics and environments, and a bigger chance to get angry at other players and get bored of the game - Something in the middle between Bad Graphics and Realistic is best. remember, games is created to get a break from reality!

Ingame Editor? Just buy Far Cry or Halo Reach Then.

Cover System? Get The Rainbow Six Vegas Series or Gears Of War.

Better Teamwork! That would be great! Unlimited Healing? No.
But I know a BIG group of Players (including me) Who'd like to see the ability to Interact with players in a FPS-Game. like, Carry a Damaged Character, Or A Droideka! (ok that may get Overpowered) or Maybe Climbing like in Army of Two! Like, with a magnaguard and a droideka, or a Wookiee and a Rebel Marksman, Being able to throw your companion to some places? great for the Wokiee + marksman Team... but that again could be misused, like killing youre teammate... would have been fun to throw a Deka at a group of enemies though

The only things I care about are better AI and more work on balancing unit classes.

Actually, I guess being able to block Force Choke should be added in, too.

All of that could pretty much be done with modding, except for the better AI part.

I have my own ideas on customization

make units customizable to a certain extent instead of the AWARD weapons and the "buff". this certain extent means that they stay within the limits of their classes and it depends on how many points you have so far. the more you add, the more points you lose. (ie. you can't give a scout trooper a bowcaster. but you can replace it's pistol with a commando pistol, increase the damage of it's rifle, replace it's recon droid with an orbital strike/binoculars, and give it more grenades). and each item of customization has a usage limit per unit you use. this customization would be done like this.

-you load the map

-at the spawn selection screen, you choose your unit

-you automatically are given 1000 credits to customize your unit. each item of customization should cost between 10 credts (for changing the model the player uses), 100 credits (upgrading the weapons)..etc, and up to 800 or so credits (regeneration, shield, jetpack, Rage buff). you can also skip this and go straight to the battle.

-you earn about credits for every opponent you kill. (10 per kill in hard mode, 25 in medium mode and 50 in easy mode)

-when your unit is killed or dies. the amount of credits you earned in that life is totaled up and you choose your unit again.

-if you want to unlock an unlockable unit, you have to give up about 10 credits and then sue that unit or customize it

what do people think of this customization idea?

Sort've like Mount and Blade: Warband, yes?

Seems more like a BF3-thing than a redid BF2. And I'm not sure if it'd work as well for BF2 as it does for Warband - I suppose it might.

I don't see the point of an elaborate cover system. Just crouch and hide behind something. What more do you need in that area?

The only thing I care about for a SWBF2 remake is physics. I want to see stormtroopers flop like dying fish after they get force pushed.
Hidden/Spoiler:
Come to think of it, I'm surprised no one has attempted to make a facsimile of SWBF2 with the Source engine.
On that note, it would be good if you had a state of incapacitation where you teammates would literally have to pick you up and carry you over their shoulder to get you to the medic. Movement speed would be slowed when carrying.

Graphics could use some work, but not too much.

Weapon drops/pickups are a must.

Balancing classes needs to be done as well.

Brown textures? Hell no.

Land to space integration a la BF3.

Ability to select more than one team to play.

More eras than the Clone Wars or Galactic Civil war.

No plot whatsoever. We bought the game to smash clankers and rebel scum, not listen to some guy angst about the evils of war.

Giant robots.

I think it's time to button this one up. Honestly this has moved on to a SWBF3 wishlist, which these types of topics always inevitably do.
