Oh! Well, I am selftaught. I just experiment and learn from every mistake.

That looks pretty good Leon. What is your tri count for the model?

3800 tris actually, and thank you wulfmen :)

3800 is very reasonable for a more modern game, however for SWBF2 that is pushing it. No weapon model should ever be over 2000 tri in Zero, and much more importantly its shadow volume should always be under 1000 tri.

In Unification we've had to go through and add low res shadow volumes to the weapons because of FPS issues when shadows were turned onto High.

If you never intend to put this in Battlefront, don't worry about it. It's a good tri count for any 2010+ game.

ok thanks for your advise, in this case i am reducing the poly count :D i already put it in game with a shadowvolume with ca 120 tris and it seem to work pretty good :)
but i guess i get to much offtopic :D

Holy jujubes Batman. There must be 1500-2000 polygons in that thing, minimum. You don't even need half that many sides in your cylinders.

In all fairness, my early weapon models were just as bad. All my cylinders were 30 sided, which was more than I needed.

The largest part of the grenade should be at most 20 sides, but that number can go down significantly the smaller the part is. The handle could be 12 sides tops, as an example.

Good to see you working though, keep it up.

haha, yeah I wasn't really caring for anything at the time so the ploy count is through the roof. :D Would my halo model go here when I'm done with it? (The sides are in good count so far, your eyes won't cross when you see it's poly count :D)

nice  that might be wanted in a few of the modern maps coming out.

Edit: A picture of the whole thing and/or the barrel would be nice.
