I didn't really want to start a WIP of this since it's still early in production, so I decided to post it here:

I only started it today, so feel free to give me plenty of criticism, I need some bossing about, LoL. If it's so bad you haven't got a clue what it is, it's a DSD1 dwarf spider droid. The legs are yet to come, LoL.

It looks to me like there are way too many polies on the eyes, and the bumps in between them. The barrel also looks like it has too many sides,
5 would probably be good, and you should rework the cylinder cap to remove the vertex in the center.

Other than that, it looks very nice.

Cool, i modelled that a while ago (including the wasted polies). sad thing is, i backed it up on a DVD and then when i wiped my pc, the xsi files were the only things that didn't work (they slowed my pc down to the extent that i got a Blue Screen Of Death). Basically what t551' said

Edit: here is an old pic of it. The pic was tiny, which is why it is so blurry.

I believe the lenght is okay, because I modeled along the picture from StarWars.com, which includes the most necessary angles. You're right, its a tad darker than on the picture :/ I guess you'll not notice that ingame, since its ought to look dirtier than on the SW.com image ;)

to linus: if its one mesh, you're on the right way. If it consists of 3 cylinders, try to connect them somehow. looks pretty good for the first model actually!
DooFi, it's not my first model. I've done some models before, but they sucked. By the way, here's a new one that I did today :

he model is very simple, but the texture rocks.

I typed up a reply yesterday along with an updated picture of the spider walker, but I guess I must have hit preview instead of submit .

Anyway, you did a nice job on the legs; I get the feeling that it's gonna be a pain modelling those. Here's a less poly version, to be honest I think the barrel should get its polys back, as it looks real squarish at the moment:

Edit: Just for fun :D:

Update: He kind of looks dodgy with only two legs :D:

Some of the angles are also wrong.

hm... Rekubot, if you hand me the model later on, I'll make a neat skeleton for you which you'll easy be able to animate :) I'm not sure how its animations would like like, though. Should we look at the ATTE's animations? :o

@ rekubot: coming along nicely there. Oh and before i say this next bit, i mean this in a friendly way ;) i Looove you. Because of you working on this model, you prompted me to try and get my old files on the DVD working again. After 3 BSOD's i found a little folder in My SWBF2 project folder called backup. Those files work! so i have all my old models back again. You know what this means don't you? You have competition on that model. j/k. For what you've done i'll leave it all for you (and also partly because that thing is gonna be a beast to texture). i'll get a few more, better quality screens of it in a bit. Once again THANK-YOU Rekubot.

EDIT: here are the screens.

I am really new at this. I have no idea how to texture and I can't save but what I did make here was a one weheled vechical that would could run over people (the big spike in the front) On the side is a small gun.

actually i hate hidden line removal, i never use it, its so ugly and it doesnt show any depth, i just keep it in textured decal or shaded and go into the display options and turn on wireframe overlay, like this...
