Modify a character
Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to modify a character in the game, without making the animations again ? I tried, but I did not find anything about this .
Thank you in advance for your help

Re: Modify a character
It depends on what you want to do, are you trying to modify the geometry or the skeleton?
If you give a character 6 arms you'll probably want to modify the skeleton and give it new animations so it'll look good. If you're just changing a few cosmetic features of existing geometry then you likely won't need to modify anything else, unless you scale an arm or leg really long etc. I assume because you posted here that you aren't talking about hex editing new MODL chunks into the msh file.
You said you tried already, how far did you get? Where are you stuck? What exactly are you trying to achieve? Are you just asking for tutorials? Did you check out the FAQ sticky thread? Give more details please.
There is a list of things you'll need to know before taking on a project like this and it would be nice if we knew your level of experience to avoid repeating things you already know.

Re: Modify a character
For now you cant edited characters ingame. But you can edit outside of the game in XSI or hex on add-ons, or odf on add-ons, skinning. Then munge the side for your character witht eh SWBF2 mod tools.

Re: Modify a character
I would just modify the geometry, not the skeleton. I had try to modify the geometry with the software blender, but I realized after that the character isn't animated in the game. Otherwise I start the character customization, and I try to find tutorials but i don't speak English very well, and suddenly I don't know which to used.

Re: Modify a character
Blender is a great modeling tool, but to put a unit (character) model ingame it needs to be enveloped to the skeleton the game uses. And Blender can't do that for Battlefront.
This isn't creating new animations. It is telling the game which parts of the body are attacted to which bones. You need to use the modeling software XSI Softimage to do that. You can use ANDEWEGET's XSI ZEtools and the free XSI Softimage Mod Tool.
Softimage Mod Tool 7.5
XSI ZETools
And here is the XSI FAQ/Tutorials.
I tried to speak in clear and simple sentences that would translate well, but let us know if you need anything explained.

Re: Modify a character
thank you, I'll try to find a good tutorial in the list.
Edit: I spent the day trying to change the character, but despite the tutorials I don't succeed, so I think I'll give up my project to a commander bly.
Edit2: I'll try again, but what file format must take to conserve animations in XSI ?
EDIT3
Sorry for the double post, but to avoid a third edit.
someone has been made and propose to download commander bly for other player ?
because i don't arrive to make it.

Re: Modify a character
You are allowed to make as many edits to all of your posts as your heart desires.
Also, animations are in the *.msh file format.

Off-topic: Correction: You want to avoid making multiple posts in a row, as it is against the rules, whereas making multiple edits is not.Grievous wrote:Sorry for the double post, but to avoid a third edit.
