Folder-based? [Solved]

Hello there,
I was wondering if SWBF2 was folder based, because I copied my Star Wars Battlefront 2 folder over to my friend's computer and after it loaded it crashed. It is probably because SWBF2 is not folder-based, but I dunno. BTW we aren't doing anything illegal, he just bought the game but wanted the patches and convo pack and whatnot.

It writes to the system registry, so you actually have to install it.

Also, if he has the game already, all he has to do is suck it up and install it himself and then download the patch and convopack. Its not the end of days.

Ahhhh, I see. Well, I'll tell him to re-install it and then ill go over and install the patches and stuff for him.
Right now he's having a fine time with ZE, learning all the functions, since that and everything else actually work. (Unlike mine, too a while to get right

)
Thanks for the information. I would assume most CD games are not folder based.

@Teancum: Really? My disc got scratched; it can run BFII fine but not install it. I just moved my BFII folder from my desktop to the laptop (which needed the install) and it runs fine using BFII.exe and the disc.

Perhaps only the BattlefrontII.exe needs SWBF2 to be installed to work.

Here's what happens: LaunchBFII.exe causes the game to try to install(the registry won't update?) but battlefrontii.exe plays the game fine. I'm pretty sure there was another topic like this...

Once it's installed once the registry values are written unless you uninstall it. It doesn't matter where it is past that point.

I didn't install it on the laptop, though. Are you saying that it's installed on the laptop now because I moved it over? When I run it, the main menu lists "Install" rather than "Launch."

Well it wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong.
