After the initial, "OMG! DIS GAEM IS SWEAT!" I haven't been playing it that much. Besides the game being really laggy on lowest settings, it just seems... different. The whole feel of the game. Y'know?

I really think my analogy fits.
Half-Life 2 + Counter-Strike: Source = Left 4 Dead, and Half-Life 2 + Team Fortress 2 = Left 4 Dead 2.

@Target: I heard an idea sort of similar. Have two teams of four survivors, but ALSO have a team of 4 Infected. It could be a variant on Scavenge where you'd compete with the other Survivors for gas while also surviving the infected team. I think that and your ideas are pretty good!

Culvar wrote:The only things I don't like is the new infected in versus. Even with all the new ones I still find it more enjoyable to play as the Smoker or Hunter. That and the survivors AI still suck. Sometimes they will stand by you while a Hunter is ripping out your innards. :P Overall the game is downright amazing though.
I'm mixed on the new and old infected. I don't care which I play as. It's pretty sad that the AI don't save you til you're almost incap'd.

I think I can agree with your analogy Fingerfood. Still an enjoyable game.

Woah, that scavenged mode would be crazy and hectic. The only problem I see is if the 2 survivor groups can interact with each other and if the infected all focused on one group first. Thank you too.

What about TF2 do you see in L4D2? (I'm just curious, haven't played much TF2 at all)

One thing I did notice about L4D2 though, was that they really were showing off their in-game environments.

For instance, the extreme haze of smoke during the first chapter of Dead Center, or the torrential rains you experience in Hard Rain.

L4D seemed like a lot of inner city with a little bit of forest. In Left 4 Dead 2 they pulled out all the stops and went head over heals to create truly unique environments for each level. That's one thing I thought was really cool - you really don't feel like "I've played through this level already".

Edit: Oh, and the daytime / nightime was another good idea to change things up. It'd be kinda cool if they allowed us to toggle day or night for each level though... just saying, that'd be pretty interesting :)

TF2 is colorful like L4D2. Also something with the weapons I've seen. I know people have been calling the grenade launcher the FAN of L4D2. I can sort of see why, but I don't find the FAN as powerful or useful as the grenade launcher and I'm pretty Diet Dr. Pepper good as scout. He's my main.

Grenade launcher can't make you jump super-duper high. :P

Oh, and someone got a L4D2 SDK working. I'm currently setting it up, but it looks like it'll work.

That was a pretty brutal beating you and your team gave.

Was this on the pc or 360?

Fusion and I are both on the 360. We need cross platform support for this game. Because that would be epic. Fusion is in the videos, btw.

Oh nice. Have cross would have been great, but the steam servers and LIVE servers I don't think easily talk to each other.

Yeah, I'm "TheDarkOrchid" in those. I was also eating in the second one, which is why when I was the Spitter I was hiding behind that display case and made a desperate attempt to escape at the last minute.

Took on expert by myself today. (I like to think of myself as a casual gamer (A.K.A. I'm not good)) And I was actually proud to say I almost beat Dead Center by myself on expert. I learned alot about how to not get raped by the zombies, especially the commons, and the tanks. I never got hit by a tank once, I even had to take one on solo, as it proceeded to incapacitate my fellow survivors. That was crazy, but I didnt get hit, and it died, so hey, I say I did pretty well. My problem now lies in the finale, which didn't end well. And the sad thing is I didn't record any of this for fear of shear embarrassment. :|

I've heard nothing but good reviews about this game; maybe I should get it?

I think so. Have you played/own the first? Also wait for a steam deal or something. Unless you want to pay $50.

I'm totally excited about this.....

It kills me that they say spring. Especially since it's valve spring.

That sounds awesome.

However, while this is all well and good, whatever happened to HL2:E3? Is that thing EVER going to get made?

I'm fairly sure Valve isn't abandoning it's most well received series, I'm very confident we haven't seen the last of ole Mr. Freeman.

Well, I know Valve's really good at keeping secrets, the time we hear more about it is probably when they've got a deadline a small time away from then.

Very excited for the new DLC, its a great idea as many fans were sad to see the old survivors go. I want to see if 8v8 Versus will work out though. I know its not confirmed but, it would be funny to watch.
