Battle Arena 2.0

This adds hunt mode to battle arena. Sounds boring (lol)? Well this is also a sort of clan map, but unlike other clan maps, this does not suck. In fact, it is anything but sucky.

A summery of the system is:
1) You enter either team1 or team2 pods to register on a team.
2) You are teleported to a holding area, while a 30 second countdown timer allows more people to register.
3) When the timer elapses, you will be released and the battle commences.
4) Whichever team wins will get 12 points (every member will).
5) The system is reset, allowing for more matches to take place.

Another note, if you kill someone in the lobby (and you are not registered in a battle) you will be sent to jail for 30 seconds.

Arena
  • Game floor
  • Stands w/ scoreboard
  • Jail
Gamer's Lounge
  • tv
  • seats
  • cameras
  • betting machine
  • computer code input (will input numbers into the system to do various things)
Gamer's Loft
  • seats
  • cameras
Gamer's Bar
  • big tv
  • Remote control android dueling
  • some kind of sports game with a ball
  • Bar seats
  • Dancers
  • Picture scramble puzzle
Shooting Range
  • moving targets
  • shooting skeet?
I plan on copy-and-pasting this into DMI, it has helped me to work out a lot of bugs, such as the sofas and booth seats. This map is about 99% done, I just need to test online again, to iron out some odd jail bugs. I figured it would be a waste to only release to LH or MX, so I decided to make a wip.

Gamer's lounge. You can see fragme here on tv (pun). The tv is a funny picture gallery that scrolls by. You can sit in the sofas and look around (or watch tv).

Image
Booth seats are in the corners of the room. They seat 5 people, and you can also look around while sitting in them. This makes a good setting for talks about strategy and such.

Image
The heart of the mode is the battle system. You can see here the 2 team portals and the reset button. Also in the far left you can see a bit of the remote camera system.

My favorite layout, 3d combat:

A "king of the hill" style layout, ideal for hero assault mode:

And remember, you can toggle through all 7 of the layouts ingame via a toggle button. :)

Stereo system with functional controls (WIP music causes all sound to die after playing but then they come back)

New idea: a Free For All button, when you press it, it turns the mode to ffa and opens the arena up to everyone. Maybe it should be TDM (team death match), because FFA tends to not work very well with a team oriented game like BF2. Also, the only viable spawn points would be the two holding areas at the opposite ends of the stadium, or else you may spawn inside of something depending on the layout. Therefore, it would be best to just have cis vs rep and spawn at opposite sides.

Image
A look at the new status monitor. Its messages dynamically change according to the state of the system (It lets you know when it's ready, registering players, when the battle commences, and more).

Image
Another major addition is the scoreboard, showing how many players are on each team. It also is dynamic, updating the scores when people register or die.

Image
A view of the new observation deck.

Image
Another look at the lobby.

Notice in the last two pictures that doors have been added. These doors are controllable via panels on the wall. They even include a panel on the left to lock them, so people on the outside can't get in. This enables those participators in the battle to be sequestered from the general audience. What does this mean? It means that you could have an epic clan match going on with a dozen spectators and the 2 groups would not interfere.

Perhaps turning SWBF2 into a spectator sport? Somehow I don't think it will be THAT popular, but it's worth a shot :)

Hoth King of the Hill

Image

Summary:

This is just a hill in the middle of no where. The modes of this map focus on controlling the hill. In GCW era, you play as all wampas. In CW era, you are jedi only.

readme:

YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THE MODES ON THE MAP SELECTION SCREEN UNLESS: you run HKH_install_shell.bat located in C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData (or whatever your install path may be).

However, when Zerted completes his SWBF2v1.3 mod (and you get it), this step will NOT BE NEEDED.

---------------------------------------

--={Before you play}=--
This is a MULTIPLAYER ONLY map. There are no ai. If you make a server:

Must be set:
-teams = player select
-friendly fire = on

Optional:
-CTF limit = 3
-{adjust conquest, hunt, and CTF timers according to how long you want to play}

---------------------------------------

Below is the list of modes and eras:

-{DeathMatch Mode}-
Free for all, no teams. Ignore any red or blue icons, you get 2 points for every kill (kills may say negataive though).

Tech notes: uses conquest timer.

-{King of the Hill Mode}-
In this mode, your team must capture a CP at the top of the hill. Remember this is a team mode, so don't TK (you will lose points).

Tech notes: uses CTF score and time limit

-{Control Mode}-
A ring will appear at the top of the hill. When you "control" this ring, you will start to gain points. There is no points for killing, only for maintaining control of the ring. Blue indicates that the player is being given points.

Tech notes: uses Hunt score and time limit (note that hunt has a default time limit of 5 minutes)

credits
-[RDH]Zerted - dm and KOH modes, as well as his time, help, and commitment to the 1.3 mod and shell.
-Some guy for the caution wall textures (will have to look it up), also some guy for yucca plant.
-epm01 - extensive online testing of hoth king of hill map

Wow really great job, The lobby looks awesome and the Battle arena itself looks great with all of the cover and everything xD Also there's chairs that you can sit on, Awesome. Hehe I think I'll be killing alot of people in the lobby, yay Jail. As for the Hoth King of the Hill map, It looks awesome too and the lua must be extreme for modes such as the Control Mode. Great job on both of them

Quick question. Does this overwrite the terrain for the original battle arena or does it have two separate arenas?

The new arena is moved off to the side of the old one, and the new one will only appear in hunt mode.

Thanks for the comments! Yeah the lua is pretty intense, it was around 500+ lines just to make the battle system work. The new game modes are longer, but I want to give most of the credit to Zerted, as he created DM and KOH modes (and I heavily used his examples to make control mode).

A-maz-ing! This looks really good. To be honest, I'm actually really excited about the King of the Hill map, too. Sometimes utter simplicity can provide as much of a fun gaming experience. :) Will they be part of the same map folder?

Thanks! Yeah I just put them both in BAA. I figure after we're done battlin' and such we can just go knock each other off a big hill with wampas. The king of the hill map is like 7 mb anyway, might as well throw it in together.

O and this game mode was actually thought of on hoth hunt, where <MX>GarretGoesBoom suggested we climb a pile of rubble and play king of the hill. It was really fun, so I turned it into a real map 8) The actual hill is made up of that very same rubble, copied and welded together.

Oh I guess I should, right now I have only been focusing on the new hunt mode (which has a lot more bugs than anticipated).

Wampa control mode also only gives points to Maveritchell

What's funny is that I told FragMe! I was going to start adding hidden scripts to my maps that let me cheat - what he didn't know was that I was also going to do it to other people's maps.

... Thats the most brilliant thing anyone's ever said.

Lots of fun, it took me a bit to fully understand how the Hunt mode worked, but it was very interesting. So fun to fight as a clone along side a CIS droid thats on your team. :P

Hey, if you want to glitch or cheat on your own time, we're not going to stop you. But when you log into Gametoast you're considered a clean and fair player. First offense will result in a permanent ban with no hope of ever returning. This is non-negotiable. Nobody likes online cheaters.
Tisk tisk, Maveritchell. Just kidding. :P

This looks very nice, RepSharpshooter. I like the =LH= propaganda. :)
