Hello, I have to decide to create this topic because I installations always full with questions.
Thus here my questions:

1) How to make capital ship ?
2) How to create a medical droid and a droid of ammunition?
3) How to create an installation of a soldier to put in a vehicle or a turret?
4) How to create a ship , hover and flyer ?
5) How to create effects and how to put them ingame the play like being powers or effects?

They are my questions for the moment. Thank you in advance.

Make a ship, a huge ship, with a hole at one side to fit in a hangar/a shield for it.

mak a model you like and go to your Maps common/odfs folder and open the com_inf_weaponrecharge/healthrecharge and change the GeometryName to your new model's.

Not sure what you mean with this.
Lephenix_dor wrote:How to create a ship , hover and flyer ?
Make a model you like and use a shipped ship's odf to set your new flyer up.
Remember to add hardpoints (for firing, smoke, whatever)

Effects like effects?
Can't say about that, sorry.

I expect all the answers to your questions can be found by searching (or in the FAQ thread). I would highly suggest trying none of these things until you grip the basics of XSI. Make a few simple objects; if you have no idea how to do any of these things then I'm guessing you don't have much experience. You need to start simple, as annoying as it is :(. Try exporting a few objects then you might get a better idea on how to do these things. Another idea is to use Reps mesh exporter to load some objects from SWBFII into XSI and see how they're done.

And for the answer to your last question, this has nothing to do with XSI, to create new effects you use Particle Editor. Search this for more information.

The FAQ wrote:Blender tutorials and Info

* How to use Blender to make SWBF series models
* Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro
* wrl2export -Newer versions of Blender already have this plugin
* Modeling a Lowpoly Character
Found from the bottom of the FAQ thread. That's all to do with blender.

Click me!
My google search for 3DS Max Tutorials.
And how to put it ingame.

And how to get them ingame.

It is possible to create and export models for BFII in all of these programs; in my opinion, XSI is easiest to do this - but you can choose whichever one you think suits you best. They are all equally capable of creating high-quality models.

All the modelling programs are even difficult to learn. No matter how you look at it, modelling in 3d takes some getting used to, since you'll be thinking in abstract ways to shape/mold your basic cube in what you want. Every program has it's pro's and con's. You can look at sites which compares them, but face it; You will need to indulge yourself into whichever tutorials there exist for that specific program.
I use Blender myself, but that's more because it's a free program that also has a portable edition, so I can use it from my USB-stick anywhere. (read; School)

That's how I learned it. I only read Unit 1 and half of Unit 2 (and the last part of it), that's all you need for creating models in Blender that you'll only use as props in SWBFII. It can't hurt to read the other parts of course.

Only props. If you want to make player models or turrets, you'll need someone else to rig them.

You have to use XSI to do those, i'm pretty sure. But you could make weapons and such in Blender, but like mswf said, they'll have to be finished up in XSI.
i
@Mswf You read all of Unit 1? overachiver...... :lol: I only read the baisics, and then the part on texturing.

Not ALL of unit 1. I mean, I already knew about a lot about the things they discuss in "Know what you're doing" and "Thinking in 3d", but I really learned a lot as soon as I learned how to rotate the camera :P

you can make the models in 3DS, Milkshape, or any number of modeling programs, but if the models move in any way(i.e. turrets, veichles, people, ect.), or make some kind of effect(i.e. weapons, stuff like that) you need to finish the models in XSI. Basicly, you can only make basic props in programs out of XSI.

Heh. It took me 3 weeks to figure that out. I didn' even know the square in the center was a cube. (serves me right for jumping into it right after SketchUp.) :D
