Okay so recently downloaded SWB 2, I love it!! :D It's exactly like i remember but better. So im playing it on my Apple Mac Book Air running OSX Yosemite and it runs perfectly etc etc... But im wanting to add a few mods liven up the game a bit. I have the a program called Wine and Xquarts which helps me run windows files on my mac. But basically to use mods you need to have the 1.2 patch right? Every time i try to download and install it it just simply doesn't do anythign to my game? No different HUD no new unit skins or anything is this just a mac thing that i will just have to deal with and accept i cant get mods or has anyone else had the same problem and managed to get round it?? would really appreciate your time!

Thanks

Jamie

P.S Googled what i could but the one video i found was a German one so not very useful!! :(

First welcome
Second I would read the rules - your topic title is a bit childish.
Third a Mac is just an over sized media player

If your game cannot play mods its probably because it's on version 1.0.
To be able to have mods (putting things in addon folder) you need official 1.1 version by Lucasarts.

I am unsure how to get that because I never played on a Mac.
The 1.1 version is just a swap of the 1 file "BattlefronII.exe" used to run the game.

Perhaps someone here can send you a 1.1 BattlefrontII.exe that does not involve running any more programs. You would just swap the 1.1 exe over your old one then you can play with mods.

Sorry, it's my first time here bit of a novice! And yeah I know a PC would be better, My macs good for my design work and what not, but besides the point.

Yeah I suppose i can just wait and see if anyone has a good solution tried swapping files around and stuff but it just ends up with the game its self not being able to start

Thank you for your reply though I really do appreciate any input at all!

Welcome to gt
2. I agree
3. too :D

You don't need 1.1. but the unofficial 1.3 patch. It's an windows installer, so i don't know if you can run it on a mac. But i'm sure zerted can give you more information about that.

The v1.3 exe installer should extract fine under WINE (it does for me on LMDE). You need the Unofficial v1.3 patch to be able to see most of the custom eras and game modes. v1.1 changes something with string localization and allows you to play online with other v1.1 people, but that's less of an issue now that there are no official SWBF2 servers anymore. The Unofficial v1.2 patch provides optional skin/side/HUD changes. v1.3 includes the HUD changes.

While you're playing a map, enter the pause menu (press Esc). If you see a "Fake Console" button, then v1.3 installed correctly. v1.2 and v1.3 won't change the game's version numbers because they're unofficial patches.

If the installer didn't work, you can extract the files to any folder then copy+paste them on top of the SWBF2 files they're supposed to replace.
